Performances and Competitions

Football Games Students will be expected two hours before game time and they are required to stay for the entire game and return to the band room as a group where they will change clothes, put away instruments, meet and be dismissed. This can take up to an hour after the game ends. Students play during the games and usually perform during halftime. They MAY have the third quarter of the game "off." Time off is at the discretion of the band director. During "time off" they cannot eat any food while wearing their uniform. They may drink water only. Please do not make plans to have your student leave early! They go to the stadium as a group and leave as a group.

Competitions

Competitions are hosted by schools & usually held at the school’s football field. The band, along with the chaperones, travel together on school buses.

The students will generally spend the entire day and evening at a competition.

Marching Competition(Local & District) season goes from late September through November. The dates are posted on the website calendar and in the band room. The bands perform and receive a rating from the judges. Awards are

given at the end of the performances to the highest rated bands. After marching, a snack and Gatorade/water is always provided. However, Students should ALWAYS bring money for meals and additional snacks.

Concert Band Competition (District, State & Solo & Ensemble) season is usually in the spring. The dates are posted on the website calendar & in the band room. Students should bring money for meals. Competitions are hosted by

different schools and usually held at their auditoriums. The students will travel with chaperones

Concerts Performances usually begin in October and end in the May with a Spring Concert. Concerts are announced well in advance.

Individual competitions are usually in the spring. Dates for all concerts, individual competitions & group competitions will be posted on the calendar in advance. Any fees that apply will also be announced in advance.

Participation in all performances & competitions are important! If your student will not attend a performance, please inform the band director immediately.

PARENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND FOOTBALL GAMES, CONCERTS AND COMPETITIONS AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE!

The excellence of the PCHS Band program is evident when we're on the road and new parents are often unprepared

for the “PRIDE” they feel watching this band take the field under competition conditions.

Wear your band parent t-shirt, pins, etc. – cheering, yelling & clapping are encouraged!

In addition, competitions usually charge a ticket fee and/or parking fee for spectators.

This amount varies by competition. We will send out fee information before the competition!

Band Photos Each year the band takes Group and Individual photos. Band Photos will be taken by Nickolson’s Portrait Studio. The

photos are typically taken in August or September. Date & Cost TBA

Seniors Banners: $35. The Banners will be displayed at every football game. Banners are given out at Band Banquet. Please note, we cannot guarantee the condition of the banner at the end of the fall sports season. The banners are weather resistant but we can't control the elements. You will also have an opportunity to purchase additional photos from this experience.

Charms & Uniform Cleaning: Any unused money is donated to the general fund UNLESS designated to go to another student. Please see the Treasurer for more info. Each senior band member is required to pay for dry cleaning of your uniform(s) and the fee is added to Charms at the beginning the year.

Band Banquet The PCHS Band holds an annual awards banquet in the spring. The purpose of the banquet is to reflect upon the

year's accomplishments, to honor those who have realized special achievements and to recognize graduating seniors for their years of service to the band. Varsity letters and/or participation awards may be awarded at the banquet. The banquet is held off campus. We strive to make the banquet a special evening for everyone and the

format changes slightly from year to year. Cost info TBA.
