WE ARE COUGAR PROUD!
• Welcome to Mrs. Hand’s Social Adjustment class 6-8 grades.
I graduated from TWU – Psychology with Biology minor. I have three assistant
teachers. Kendal Turner, Angela Bridges and Mary
Dorwaldt.
What is IB is an International baccalaureate program designed with International mindedness towards the curriculum and school as a whole. In SAC we teach a large number of social skills and provide behavior supports. I often have students for core subject classes and we teach the same curriculum, in addition to any IEP’s your child may have.

I live in Pilot Point and love toride horses. I’ve been at Calhoun for 10 years and have taught science, reading, language arts, co-taught math and now SAC special education
What is International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme
(IB- MYP) ?
The MYP is:
• for students aged 11 to 16
• a framework of academic challenge
• 8 subject groups, plus personal project in the final year. At CMS kids choose French or Spanish
• taught in any language
• Includes a community service requirement
What we cover in this class

My grading and homework policy
• In the core subjects I grade according to the district guidelines for each subject in the core areas
• In Social Skills I grade by points based on compliance in ALL classes
• You can help your child by signing their point sheet each and every night
• I give homework almost every week on Monday (particularly in math) and it is due on Friday
• Students are expected to keep an agenda, keep them on track by asking for it.
