Welcome to MISSION POSSIBLE!

• Keeping up your grades• Filing your college applications• Setting a good example for the rest of the IB

students• Getting ready for IB exams• Having fun

locally.” • Looking at our “IB Bible” – read it and we will

discuss it next week

• Connecting to your teachers to learn and to get college recommendations

• Connecting to your friends and family for support when it all gets too much

• Connecting with yourself to find inner strength, direction towards your future, and what you want in life

• NOT for job applications

• For:

– Those writing recommendations

– To supplement scholarship applications

– Provide a basis for college application questions

• General things to Stress:

– Quality over Quantity

– Continuous commitment to an organization over multiple short-lived commitments.

Resumes: Things to include

• NAME, • ADDRESS• PHONE NUMBER• SOCIAL SECURITY # (optional - for use on college

applications)• EMAIL ADDRESS (make sure this address is

appropriate for communications with colleges and scholarship boards)

Resumes: Things to include

• CURRENT PROGRAM STATUS: EX: An IB Diploma Candidate, a certificate candidate

• MYP STATUS: certificate, etc• LIST OF CURRENT ENROLLED CLASSES• CURRENT CLASS RANK AND GPA: You will need

to check with Ms. Woodward.• SAT SCORES

• GOAL STATEMENT: if you are clueless than you have to be creative here: “I will be exploring career options, such as ____________, while furthering my education at the university level.”

• PERSONAL PROJECT DESCRIPTION• EXTENDED ESSAY DESCRIPTION

• SCHOOL ORGANIZATIONS 9-12 (club membership and role) (do not abbreviate organizations or clubs)

• ATHLETIC ORGANIZATIONS 9-12• COMMUNITY SERVICE 9-12• WORK EXPERIENCE 9-12• LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE 9-12

Resumes: Things to include

• HOBBIES OR SPECIAL INTEREST• AWARDS AND HONORS 9-12 (these may include

Honor Roll, perfect attendance, Team captains, all-district academic or athletic teams, writing awards, science awards, any competitive awards in any field).

• Non-competitive awards like Who’s Who need not be listed.

Resumes: Formatting

• Does not need to be in this exact order.• Leave out any of the categories that do not apply to

you.• Must NOT exceed a single sheet of paper (but may

be printed on both sides.• Do NOT falsely embellish, use large fonts or fancy

print.

• 3 hard copies– To Mr. Arthur for an history class grade by 9/30– To Ms. Terry for her recommendations– To another teacher(s) for recommendations
