We have missed our kids so much since school closed in March. We are looking forward to the new school year, and we can’t wait to make new memories with them. We’ve developed plans to prioritize the health and safety of our staff and students, investing more than $ 1.2 million to purchase desk shields for all classrooms, face masks and shields, touchless hand sanitizer in every classroom, cleaning products, signage and more. We’ll continually evaluate and make changes to implement the best safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. For the latest Health and Safety Protocols, visit our website. We believe family involvement is vital to our students’ success, and we greatly value the relationship we have with our parents. At this time, the Texas Education Agency and local health officials have advised schools to limit visitors to decrease the risk of potential exposure to COVID-19. We strive for our families to feel welcomed, but we are unable to ensure social distancing and proper COVID-19 tracking measures without establishing the following protocols for the beginning of the school year: During the first 2 weeks of school, all buildings will remain closed. Parents should schedule appointments by calling the office. • Lunch or breakfast visitors will not be permitted. • Visitors will be limited to only those who fulfill essential needs on campus and are approved by school personnel prior to arriving. • The school will screen any visitors in the offices to determine if the visitor has COVID-19 symptoms or is test-confirmed with COVID-19. • At this time, we will limit daytime or evening school and district events in which visitors attend. We’ll get creative and find new ways to involve our families in their children’s education. WSISD Visitor Procedures Change to Prevent Spread of COVID-19 What’s Inside? White Settlement ISD 2020-202`1

We’re so excited to see our Bears on Wednesday, Sept. 9—the first day for ALL students! We have missed our kids so much since school closed in March. We are looking forward to the new school year, and we can’t wait to make new memories with them. We’ve developed plans to prioritize the health and safety of our staff and students, investing more than $1.2 million to purchase desk shields for all classrooms, face masks and shields, touchless hand sanitizer in every classroom, cleaning products, signage and more. We’ll continually evaluate and make changes to implementthe best safety measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

We strive for our families to feel welcomed, but we are unable to ensure social distancing and proper COVID-19 tracking measures without establishing the following protocols for the beginning of the school year: • During the first 2 weeks of school, all buildings will remain closed. WSISD will extend the school day by 30 minutes for the 2020-21 school year. The Texas Education Agency advised school districts to prepare in the event of a district-wide closure during the year due to COVID-19. The additional 30 minutes will enable WSISD to “bank” additional student minutes. This will help ensure that students will not be required to attend school beyond the days set in the calendar in the event of a closure.

Also, sign up for Canvas, which houses assignments, expectations, class presentations, and more. Families must only sign up one time. Stay connected by also visiting our website, wsisd.com, and by following WSISD and our schools on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We also use the Skylert and SchoolStatus messaging systems as a way to communicate with our families via email, text and phone.

Connect with us! Families with students who will ride the bus MUST complete the Bus Rider Registration Form no later than Aug. 27.
