Classroom Rules

1. Raise your hand and wait to be called on. When I ask questions I will periodically use the popsicle sticks to call on people.

2. Do not speak while others are speaking.

3. Be in your seat and working on the opening activity when the bell rings. There will be an activity on the board as soon as you enter get working!

4. Bring all materials to class that you are supposed to bring. This includes a writing utensil.

Page 10: Welcome Back

Classroom Rules continued…

5. Follow directions the first time they are given

6. Respect your teacher and your classmates

7. No food, drinks, or gum in the classroom… well there are exceptions I do not mind if you eat or drink ( I’m not talking full meals folks) If I find garbage left in class we will get rid of this exception and use the first sentence ;)

I fully expect that these rules will be followed at all times. If you fail to follow these rules, you will receive one verbal warning. If the

inappropriate behavior does not cease, you will be disciplined according to the schools policy which will include a call home to parents,

conference and discipline actions taken by the principals. A classroom should be a safe environment where learning is the top priority.

Classroom Procedures 1. Get to class on time. Tardiness will not be accepted. You are being

inconsiderate towards your teacher and your classmates, not to mention that you are cheating yourself out of valuable learning time. I will be closing the door when the bell rings. Then you will need to go to office for tardy slip. Slip it under door and designated person will let you in.

2. I expect that you will enter the room in an orderly fashion. Once you have arrived, please sit in your seat, take out your notebook, and do the opening activity that will be posted on the board. It may be Note cards, Vocabulary, or something related to the current unit.

3. You must be prepared for every class. It detracts from learning time if I have to locate a pencil or paper for you. If you forget your materials, there will be some available to borrow for collateral. This is not to be an everyday occurrence.

Page 12: Welcome Back

Procedures Continued… 4. I also expect that you will be quiet while I, or

another classmate is speaking.

5. Homework should be completed before class begins. You should not be scrambling to finish it when the bell rings. Assignments that are turned in a day late will be lowered by 10 points each day it is later. If you are missing any assignments that are not handed in that same week you must stay after to complete them (with no copies) and you will receive a grade of a 50. Believe me a 50 is better then a 0. You are held accountable for all assignments.

Page 13: Welcome Back

Procedures cont… Bathroom Breaks will be few and far

between, please.

Your grades are available online, please don’t ask what your grade is I promise I will keep grades up to date and get papers back as fast as I can. I am one of those teachers that doesn’t like things to pile up so it will be graded ASAP

6. If you are absent, you are still responsible for the work that you miss. You will have as many days as you were absent to complete the work. Extensions will be given only for extenuating circumstances (death in the family, medical emergency, etc.). Rule #3 will apply to any late make-up work. Please check my website regularly, there will be an power points that you missed. Also in skyward look for attachments for work that I have downloaded.

7. If you miss a movie, you are still responsible for covering that material. You may check the movie out and take it home, or you can come in before school or during a free period to watch it.

8. Please complete your assignments in pencil or blue or black ink. Gel pens and markers are difficult to read. Assignments not completed in pencil or blue or black ink will receive an automatic zero.

Page 15: Welcome Back

9. Absolutely no pagers or cell phones. If they go off in my class, I will take them. This also goes for MP3 players. You will not get them back until the end of the day when we call your parents and tell them why I have your phone. If we are on a break it is ok to check your phone.

10. I dismiss you, not the bell. Before you can leave my room, it must be clean, the desks must be in rows, and you must be in your seat. Only then will you be dismissed.

Page 16: Welcome Back

All homework will be turned in as soon as you enter the classroom. Once the door closes I will take them out of the box and place them in a folder. If it is incomplete you have one day to hand it in with penalty of 1 grade and -10 everyday its late.

Lots of group activities, these make my job

fun as well as yours when we are in groups we are to be quiet and respectful of other groups.
