Welcome J 3

WELCOME

Dear Trinity Church parish & friends,

For nearly 300 years, the Good News has been proclaimed – in deed, as in word – by members of this fellowship, and, since 1877, the mysteries of our God have been prayed at this altar with joy and wonder. Whether you are returning to church after a time away or are altogether new to the faith; whether you are a lifelong Trinity parishioner, looking for a new faith home, or simply seeking a place to celebrate this season; on behalf of these here gathered and all those who have come before us, we welcome you to Trinity Church in the City of Boston.

If you are interested in learning more about joining our community, we invite you to fill out a welcome card (located in the pew rack before you) and set it in the offering plate. We will then look forward to connecting with you this week.

If you are a pilgrim passing through our city, please consider learning more about this remarkable home of our worship and return for the free guided tour offered every regular Sunday, starting at the Eagle Lectern (front, right) immediately following the last service of the morning.

As the risen Christ makes all things new, trust that you are always welcome here. May you and yours know that you are loved, this and every day.

The Rev. Morgan S. Allen,Rector

This booklet is designed to be reused each week. Please leave it in the pew as you depart.

A PDF is available for download at trinitychurchboston.org/publications

Music During CommunionAnthem Richard Webster, 2016

One thing have I desired of the Lord, which I will require;even that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,to behold the fair beauty of the Lord, and to visit his temple. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his tabernacle;yea, in the secret place of his dwelling shall he hide me,and set me up upon a rock of stone. And now shall he lift up mine headabove mine enemies round about me.Therefore will I offer in his dwelling an oblation with great gladness;I will sing, and speak praises unto the Lord.

Music During Communion Anthem Be seated. C.H.H. Parry (1848-1918)

Dear Lord and Father of mankind, forgive our foolish ways! Reclothe us in our rightful mind, in purer lives thy service find, in deeper reverence, praise. In simple trust like theirs who heard, beside the Syrian sea, the gracious calling of the Lord, let us, like them, without a word, rise up and follow thee. Drop thy still dews of quietness, till all our strivings cease; take from our souls the strain and stress, and let our ordered lives confess the beauty of thy peace. Breathe through the heats of our desire thy coolness and thy balm; let sense be dumb, let flesh retire; speak through the earthquake, wind, and fire, O still, small voice of calm.
