DIOCESAN SERVICES FUND 2018

Thank you to the many parishioners who made a commitment this year to the Diocesan Services Fund. With a parish goal of $75,000, the growing

number of pledges made by parishioners, allows Corpus Christi to not only achieve, but to exceed our goal. Your support is essential to helping the Archdiocese of Galveston Houston to continue in its mission to meet the needs of the greater Catholic community through education, formation, sacraments, social justice programs and liturgies. Have you made a pledge to this year’s Diocesan Services Fund? Join with your fellow parishioners who have made this commitment. 50% of pledge payments over and above our goal are returned to Corpus Christi Parish, while the other 50% pro-vides aid to poor parishes. Contributions are accepted through December 31, 2018.

An Invitation to Women of the Parish The Council of Catholic Women (CCW) will gather to meet on Tuesday, December 4, 9:00 am, at Corpus Christi Church. Our group will take a trip to Wellsprings for our meeting. If you would like to join the CCW on this trip, please meet in the church parking lot at 9:00 am. For further information, please call Nanci Totah, 832-247-5176,or email [email protected].

PLAY IT SAFE DURING THE HOLIDAYS PLEASE OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING PRECAUTIONS

From time to time, we have had cars broken into and property stolen. This especially happens when the parking lot is filled with cars for sports activities, meetings and during Mass. Area police departments remind us that daycares, schools, churches and shopping malls are high target areas for vehicle thefts. Some theft prevention tips are: Hide or remove valuables, including phones, charging

cables, backpacks and packages. Women are reminded to carry their purses with them when leaving their vehicles.

Never leave your car running. Never leave your child alone in the car. Lock your car and take your keys.

Our campus security cameras are monitored regularly. Let's continue to work together to keep our community safe.

SUPPORT THE RETIREMENT FUND FOR RELIGIOUS

The annual Retirement Fund for Religious will be taken up next weekend, December 8 – 9, 2018. The Catholic bishops of the United States initiated the Retirement Fund for Religious in 1988 to address the profound lack of retirement funding among religious communities. This collection benefits over 34,000 senior sisters, brothers and religious order priests.

Do you remember the sisters, brothers, or religious order priests who made a positive difference in your life?

Please give to next week’s second collection.

ADVENT ANGEL PROJECT Be an Angel for Others!

This year our Advent Angel program begins the First Sun-day of Advent – Sunday, December 2. Gift tags available for you to select and purchase a gift or two for a child or adult. Children, especially, enjoy shopping for a gift for someone their own age. Please wrap the gift and tape the tag to the package. Gifts may be returned to the bin in the vestibule or to the parish office. Please place gift cards in the collection basket or bring them to the parish office. Do not place them in the bin!

This year, in addition to helping families in need with toys and food, we will also be collecting “cold weather items” for the families served by Casa Juan Diego. Louise Zwick, co-founder of Casa Juan Diego, has expressed a great need for children’s jackets, coats, warm pajamas, socks and blan-kets. These items do not need to be gift wrapped. They may also be placed in the bin located in the vestibule. Thank you for being an “Advent Angel”, sharing Christmas joy with those in need during the Christmas season!
