Welcome Aboard!
OUR MISSION Stagecoach Transportation Services, Inc. was established in 1976 to create a network of community transportation alternatives that connect the people and places of Orange and Northern Windsor Counties of Vermont. Our mission is to enhance the economic, social and environmental health of the region by providing safe, reliable, affordable and accessible community transportation services for everyone in the communities we serve.
The Challenges ECONOMIC With the average annual cost of owning/operating a car in Vermont rising above $7,500, greater pressure has been placed on commuter budgets to ensure access to transportation. According to HUD, in our region, the average cost of owning and operating a vehicle is more expensive than average housing costs. SOCIAL With 25% of our population at risk of being transit-dependent and the rural nature of our state, the potential for being stuck at home without access to medical and nutrition support increases. Transit-dependent members of our community are prone to rural isolation which has significant impact on their well-being. ENVIRONMENTALMost of the travel in our region is done in cars, and most of that is done alone. Riding the bus helps our region produce less greenhouse gases, better water quality, and improved health while still enjoying access to jobs, goods and services. Our Solutions Stagecoach operates two parallel and complementary transportation systems to achieve our goals. The Dial-a-Ride System provides seniors, people with disabilities and many others access to comprehensive transportation alter-natives. The Fixed Route System connects passengers to employment and shopping centers.
Stagecoach is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our funding is on average an 80/20 mix of public (state and federal grants) and private money. Stagecoach relies upon the generous support of individuals, businesses, towns and philanthropic organizations to supplement the public grants, as well as to provide the local match required to draw down these grants. Every $1 donated to Stagecoach unlocks $4 of federal and state money.

Director’s Message With this passenger guide we celebrate the achieve a long-time goal of renew-ing and revitalizing the bus services along the I89 Corridor. These changes were prioritized by riders and supported by efficiency studies that looked at under-performing areas and unmet community needs. Similar changes along the I91 Corridor resulted in a 30% increase in use. It is gratifying to see how well this service meets the needs of so many riders. We’re proud we are helping people and improving their quality of life
What’s next? We plan to keep improving services, and will focus our attention on the I-89 Corridor, after launching the I-91 Corridor Service. We will continue to seek your input as we redesign how we provide services.
Last but certainly not least, we continue to focus on the three basic tenets underlying our mission:
• SAFETY, which is always our first priority; • SERVICE, providing an accessible and growing system; and • SCHEDULE, increasing our transit options and frequency.
Thank you for riding and supporting Stagecoach. We remain at your service!
Jim Moulton, Executive Director

We’re Here for YOU!
This year we also officially merged with Addison County Transit Resources (ACTR), the culmination of a valued partnership begun 3.5 years earlier. ACTR and Stagecoach first linked together in January 2014 and, since then, the communities and people they serve have greatly benefitted from the partner-ship, experiencing improved services, higher ridership and greater financial stability. The agencies have also seen greater efficiency and effectiveness through-out all levels of operations, further laying the groundwork for more service opportunities.Looking ahead, Stagecoach remains committed to providing the best possible community transportation for everyone. Happy travels! Thank you for riding - we remain at your service

Thank you for helping to keep our family, friends and neighbors healthy!
We are grateful to all who choose to use public transportation. By doing so, you are helping to cut down on transportation-related pollutants. The unhealthy air quality from traffic emissions has been linked to health conditions like asthma, poor lung function, birth defects and childhood cancer.
Stagecoach calculates that Dartmouth-Hitchcock employees who use their buses save 155.3 tons of carbon emissions every year! Together, we are creating a healthier community.
