From the Desk of the Executive Director:As we welcome the New Year, we reflect on the

memories of 2016 at Serenades The Villages. We would like to start by thanking our family members for

supporting our community and acknowledging our staff throughout the year. During 2016 we welcomed Heather and Daniel as Community Relations Directors; Megan Moreland joined us as the Wellness Director and we’re forever grateful for Alyssa and Lucy’s three years of service at the community.

2017 is kicking off with some exciting transitions that include welcoming Carolyn Barton as our Executive Director! Carolyn is coming to us from the Serenades Longwood community where she has held the position of Business Office Director for over five years and has served as the Administrator Designee for her entire tenure at Longwood. As much as she’ll be missed at Serenades Longwood, we are excited to welcome all that Carolyn will bring to the Villages team.

Carolyn will be reaching out to the families and staff to schedule time with each of you.

Serenades are in step with Soles4Souls! Soles4Souls is

a global not-for-profit institution dedicated to fighting the devastating impact and perpetuation of poverty through the distribution of shoes. Please contribute new or used shoe donations to the official “shoebox” available in the community room. Old worn out shoes are also welcomed as they will be recycled for materials.

We are also collecting teddy bears for our Share The Bears community service project. New small to medium sized teddy bears that are collected are given to the first responders when arriving to a scene that involves children, the first responders give one of the teddy bears to help console a child. If you would like to participate, simply drop off a bear with our Concierge or in the community room. These community service projects are on behalf of our residents. It’s a great way for them to stay connected to the community at large.
