    Thanks for Keeping WP Beautiful

In September Isom Nivins, manager of the Northside

Pride Center, noticed that two vacant properties near

East 11th Avenue and North 4th Street (the old Sugar

Shack and the building just north of it) had just been

heavily graffiti-ed. He made a request with Columbus

311, and Greg Davis, our code enforcement officer,

quickly responded. With the cooperation of the respec-

tive property owners, Steven Love and Mike Stickney,

    the graffiti was quickly removed.

Of course, graffiti has a way of coming backbut well

be watching when it does. We can really get things done

when we all pitch in. Thank you to everyone involved!

    Get Ready for Civic Elections

The Civic Association holds elections for officers every

two years, and the next round is coming up. Nominees

will be announced and taken from the floor at the

March meeting, and voting will happen in April. What do

you have to do to be able to vote? If you live

in WP, all you have to do is attend one of the civic

associations monthly meetings and fill out a short

membership form. After that, you are eligible to vote. Its

    that simple.

Already a member? Please confirm that we have your

current contact information by calling our secretary,

Lydia Yoder, at (330) 488-2304. Stay tuned for more

info as the election draws nearer.

Update on the New University District Plan

In September, 70 people shared their thoughts about

key neighborhood issues at the first public workshop for

the new University District Land Use Planand 104

more made comments online. To see an easy-to-read

summary of the comments, visit development.columbus

    .gov/universitydistrict.aspx. (Look under Documents

    on the right.)

The summary ranks issues according to how many

people said they were concerned about each. Its

fascinating to see what people think. What would you

guess is at the top: historic preservation, overcrowding,

    or bike lanes?

The next public workshop will be in February; well share

the date here as soon as its available.
