’AM: Jesus: I AM. the True Vine — John 15:1-11
PM: Movie Night — Brother White
As we prepare for a new school year, it gives each of us an opportunity for a reset, which is good for all concerned. It does not matter if your walk with Christ has been good, bad, or ugly. The Bible says, “I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfec-tion. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” We press on regardless of past responses. It is a new day in Christ. As long as we are connected and remain in Christ, our outlook is great. Apart from Jesus, we are nothing and can achieve nothing that will last. Pastor Jason has been busy at work - along with many of his youth and children’s ministry servants - as he has been the camp pastor at our Ogeechee River Baptist Association’s Junior Camp I Am last week, and this week’s Camp I Am for older children. He will then be taking our youth out of state next
week for their Youth Summer Camp. He has also been leading weekly activities at our local Boys and Girls Club. Our nominating team is gearing up to work with and assist each of our ministry teams as we prepare for our upcoming year. It is crucial for all of us to find our PLACE in serving the Lord as part of our church family. We are currently gathering items for our GA Baptist Children’s Home outside of Baxley. I visited with one of their directors recently there as we look to increase our partnership with them. We also will be feeding all of the teachers and staff at the Board of Education on Friday, August 2, and sponsoring a Sunday evening in August as a thank you gathering for all of our local first responders with boiled peanuts and home-made ice-cream. We will soon be putting our backpacks together for our Early County trip that will be in early December. Mission 1:8 is who we are and what we do as we share the love of Jesus in very practical ways and every area of our community, state, country, and world. Pastor Tom
