PARENT REQUESTS FOR LATE PAYMENTS
Please be aware that when you request to make a
late payment after cut off dates the team planning
the event may have already organised
arrangements according to numbers paid and your request cannot be accommodated. It is
rarely just your payment that is late as there are
usually other parents that miss the cut off time
as well.
I would request that you contact the school before
the cut off date if you are worried you may not be
able to meet the payment deadline. Our school is
very caring of our students and we do want
everyone to participate and share the experiences that the class teachers organise. Our staff are
conscious of the minimising the number of extra
curricula activities they plan for the year however
parents need to do their bit and meet the
timelines given.
We have worked hard to give long time lines and
it seems that some parents forget to put a
reminder in their phone to meet the cut off dates. Threatening to go to the Department will not alter
the arrangements that the school has in place.
We are like many other schools and have had to
be strict with timelines given the number of
students and activities we are arranging.
Please note that the office staff are
following directions when they tell you that the activity is closed and as
such deserve to be spoken to
respectfully. We have four Assistant
Principals and myself who are here
to confidentially assist if you need to discuss late
payments etc. Please add reminders to your phone or written diaries and access compass
weekly.
2020 PLANNING
The teachers have been busy over the past few
weeks creating grades for 2020. Please remember
that just as we gave you the opportunity to
request student separations other parents have also made requests. Parents have also requested
specific teachers and friends for their children to
be with. We use a number criteria to place
students in classes coupled with parent
separation requests and student friendship
requests.
We understand that at this time
of the year students, parents and
staff are keen to know this information and we are working
through our planning as quickly
as we can. YOU can assist your child by
encouraging resilience and being positive
about the new year and new friendship opportunities that may arise.
2020 PREP TRANSITION SESSIONS
Yesterday we welcomed some of our 2020 Prep
students for their first official Orientation Day. It
was wonderful to see their smiling faces and the ease with which they settled into the
session. It takes a great deal of
planning and people to manage such
sessions and I thank our team for all
their pre planning and work on the day. We will have two more Wednesday afternoon
sessions and then the children will join us for the
Whole School Transition Day on Tuesday 10th
December. If your child is not going to be here at
EVPS in 2020 they will not be required at school
on the Whole School Transition Day.

GAMES IN THE PARK
The weather is getting warmer and it’s a great time to be outside! Put on some comfortable walking shoes and go for a stroll, or head down to the local park with the family and get active - take a ball, skipping rope or other fun game to play, such as this one:
Meet a Tree Game
The Meet a Tree Game tests how well kids know the trees in their favourite park -- and how well they remember details. Kids use every sense but sight to explore a tree, and then see if they can find that tree again once their sight is restored. Play this easy outdoor game for kids in a wooded area or a park with lots of trees.
What You'll Need:
Area with a lot of trees
Partner
Blindfold
Step 1: Pair up, or work together as a family. One person in each team puts on a blindfold.
Step 2: The partner turns the blindfolded person around two or three times, and then leads the person in a zig-zag path to a tree. The partner must be very careful to lead the blindfolded person around dangers.
Step 3: The blindfolded person explores the tree, taking as much time as he or she needs to feel the texture of the bark, find bumps or hollows, and find patches of moss or other features.
Step 4: When the blindfolded person is done, the partner leads him or her in a zig -zag path away from the tree, turning the blindfolded person around two or three times in the middle.
Step 5: The blindfolded person takes the blindfold off and tries to find the same tree.
Step 6: The partners switch places and explore another tree.
Why should students drink in class? Thirst is not a good indicator of dehydration. By the time a person is thirsty they are usually already dehydrated to some extent.
Children rarely drink enough during break times at school and often forget to drink unless reminded. Allowing and reminding students to drink water in class increases the likelihood that they will drink more. Drinking often, especially before, during and after physical activity is the best way to stay hydrated.
How much water should children drink?
The recommended daily amounts of fluid for children and adolescents are:
5 glasses (1 litre) for 5 - 8 year olds
7 glasses (1.5 litres) for 9 - 12 year olds
8-10 glasses (2 litres) for 13+ years * a glass is 200 ml
More water is needed if children are exercising or sweating due to heat.
