Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back to the final half term of the year. We trust that both you and your children have enjoyed

the break from home learning and that you have enjoyed some of the lovely weather we have had.

School Re-opening

As you are aware, the school is re-opening this week to all of our key worker children and to children in

Year 6. The re-opening is phased to ensure the safe return for all pupils and staff, all key worker children

will be starting on Wednesday, and additional year 6 groups will be introduced on Thursday and Friday.

We have carried out thorough risk assessments so that we can follow government and Worcestershire

County Council guidelines to ensure that the pupils and staff are as safe as possible.

If you have requested a place for your child for this week, you should have received an email with a letter

giving you detailed information around your child returning to school. If you have not received this email

please phone the school office.

If you have received the email, and no longer want your place, please also contact the office to let us

know.

Should you need to talk to a member of staff, or have any questions, please contact the school office. We

are asking that parents do not come onto the school site unless absolutely necessary.

Home Learning

For all children not returning to school, Home Learning will continue as normal. Your class teachers will

continue to keep in touch with you via phone calls, and staff are contactable through the ‘Class@’ email

addresses. This week’s Home Learning is slightly different in that we have three mini projects that chil-

dren can work on. Each of these are outlined below.

Transition

We are very aware that ordinarily this half term is an important one in terms of transition for our chil-

dren, and especially so for Year 8. We would like to reassure you that conversations are already taking

place behind the scenes with both feeder school staff for our new Y5 intake and with our High Schools

for our Y8 leavers. We will be working together to find creative ways to ensure that your children are re-

ceiving a similar level of support as they would have been receiving in normal circumstances and will

keep you updated regularly.

School Visions, Aims and Values

We are currently revisiting our visions, aims and values as a school. Whilst we think there are many things

we do get right, there is always room for improvement and every now and then it is useful to ‘take stock’

of where we are. We would very much appreciate the views of both pupils and parents—especially

around the values we should be fostering in our children. Therefore, we have asked the pupils to work on

a Home Learning mini project to outline their ideas for the ‘perfect Church Hill Middle School pupil’ (See

poster below). Children can represent their ideas in any way that they choose—this may be in written

form, a poem or a piece of art work. Pupils should send in their work in the usual way by Friday 5th June.

We have put together a very short survey of four questions for parents to respond to. You can access the

survey by following this link:

Please take five minutes to complete the survey as we value your contributions.

RSA Schools Family Art Project

Why not take time out and have some fun working on a creative family project? Our primary and middle

schools are running a family art project where we are asking you to have a go at recreating a famous

piece of art work using your imagination and any resources that you have available. (See poster below

with details and examples). Please submit your entries to your child’s class teacher using the Class@

email address.

Worcestershire Virtual School Games

The Summer Term usually sees a lot of sporting events taking place, both in school and between schools.

As this can’t happen at this time, Active Hereford and Worcestershire are running ‘Worcestershire Virtual

School Games and we would like to encourage our children to take part.

How does it work? The Worcestershire School Games Activity Village is an opportunity for pupils, wheth-

er at school or at home, to take part in friendly competition and represent their school. All events are

open to pupils from reception all the way up to year 13. Schools will receive all information needed from

their School Games Organiser (SGO) via email to be shared with all pupils at their school. All information

will be available to access via the Active Herefordshire & Worcestershire website: www.activehw.co.uk/

worcestershire-schoolgames

The first challenges will go live on Monday 1st June at 8am.

Mr Miles has set up the first challenge as part of Home Learning for this week:

Speed Endurance Challenge: Speed Bounce Submit your results via the following survey

www.activehw.co.uk/forms/view/speed-bounce1 Entries to be submitted by Friday 5th June.

Pupils might also be interested in the Design a School Games Flag/Poster Entries to be submitted By

email: [email protected] by Friday 26th June.

Many thanks for your continued support.
