SERMON STUDY QUESTIONS 1. Read Luke 18:18-30, the story of the Rich Young Ruler. What do you see as the Rich Young

Ruler’s obstacle between him and God?

2. Jesus says wealth is a big hurdle to a relationship with God in verse 25. How can money/wealth be a disadvantage in our relationship with God? How has it been a disadvantage for you?

3. What are some things you rely on money for that you should trust God for?

4. Read Luke 18:26-27. According to Jesus, how can the problem of our trusting wealth instead of Jesus be overcome?

5. We need God to change our hearts for us to follow Him. All of us are wealthy in some way, and even if we can’t recognize it right now we trust our wealth for things we could trust Jesus for. God changes our heart by the power of the Holy Spirit as we look at Him, and look at Scripture. Let’s look at a series of verses and then answer: how can this motivate me to let go of my wealth and trust Jesus more? How does this verse change the definition of rich?

6. What is one truth from these passages you want the Spirit to give you more faith to believe and live out?
