This year we were assigned 26 families (66 children). Each child received both a toy, and an item of clothing, along with the most beautiful blankets – hand-made by Cheryl Colombini and Valerie Roberts. The families had a wonderful time mingling with everyone while munching on cookies and sipping on hot chocolate. The children had a special treat – they received a visit from Santa (thank you, Grant Mitchell)! The families were greatly touched by all of the love and kindness shown to them by each person they met Saturday night. Angel Tree is a total team effort and it could not happened without all of you – our amazing Sunnyside family. Thank you to everyone who took time out of their already crammed schedules to bake and purchase dozens of cookies for the party and the cookie trays. A big thank you to all of our singers and players who performed beautiful Christmas carols for everyone’s enjoyment throughout the entire evening: Bob and Yvette Gilbert, Ella and Christianna Kerbs, Bella and Alexis Cruz, and Terrance Shepherd. A huge thank you to everyone that assisted me that evening from beginning to end with organizing all of the gifts, welcoming the families, and doing the cleanup: Elga Boccardo, Stephanie Robles, Misty Cruz, Brett Bertao, Rollie and Barbara Mitchell, Pastor Dennis, Leo and Angela Reijnders (for the awesome photos and video too!). Thank you, church family, from the bottom of my heart! Your continued generosity again this year in both time and gifts provided a wonderful evening with toys and clothing to these children who otherwise would not have had a Christmas. Wishing you all a very happy and blessed new year. Raw Lemon Raspberry Cheesecake - Vegan

CrustPlace the nuts, dates, vanilla and salt in a food processor and pulse until a fine crumb forms and holds its shape when squeezed into a ball. Press into an 8" x 8" pan and place in the fridge (or use an 8” spring form pan).Lemon Cheesecake LayerGive the cashews a good rinse (after soaking) and place into a blender with lemon zest, juice, coconut cream (the cream that forms on top of a can of full-fat coconut milk when refrigerated), honey, vanilla and salt. Blend until smooth and creamy. Take some time at this step using a rubber spatula to scrape down the sides of the blender to make sure you end up with an ultra creamy consistency. Pour batter onto the chilled crust using a spatula to smooth it out. Cover with saran wrap and place in the freezer while you prepare the topping.Raspberry Topping Allow raspberries to thaw in a bowl. Stir in honey and break the raspberries apart with a fork. Stir in two tablespoons of chia seeds and set aside, allowing to gel for at least 15 minutes. When the lemon cheesecake layer is firm, carefully spread the raspberries on top. Cover and allow to chill in freezer (for a firmer cheesecake) or fridge (for an ultra creamy cheesecake). Optional: grate dark chocolate on top of cake and drizzle with blended raspberry and honey.

Soul Sisters Women’s Bible Study

Soul Sisters will begin “Breaking Free: The Journey, The Stories” by Beth Moore on Monday, January 25 at 6:00p.m.  For those who missed it two years ago, or did not have an opportunity to complete it, now is the time. This 11–week Bible study will lead participants through a study of the Scriptures to discover the transforming power of freedom in Jesus Christ. Themes for this study come from Isaiah, a book about the captivity of God’s children, the faithfulness of God, and the road to freedom. Using Scripture to help identify spiritual strongholds in your life, no matter how big or small. Join us and experience a Bible journey unlike any other. God intends for you to know and believe Him, glorify Him, experience His peace, and enjoy His presence.
