New Exchange Mobile Center Grand Opening 29 June: 11:30 a.m. in the Grafenwoehr Mall. The Exchange Mobile Centers will be replacing the TKS throughout the

year at 18 installations throughout Germany. Mobile communications are increasing important to our customers. Ever more customers are going wireless, seeking mobile access to applications and on-demand information in addition to voice communications. Exchange Mobile Center is designed to serve this trend. Customers can shop for a selection of the hottest phones, plans (from major carriers) and accessories. All are offered at competitive prices. Hohenfels, Vilseck and Illesheim open in August 2012. Independence Day Celebration 4 July: 6 – 11 p.m. Main Post Grafenwoehr Parade Field. Join in the fun at the

Fourth of July Celebration for the whole family with games such as Badminton, Horeshoes, VFW sponsored batting cages, Volleyball, Dominoes, Checkers, and cards. Food, face painting & balloon twisting, magic show, jumping castles for the kids. Entertainment will be a live USO show – The Kayleigh Leith Band from 6 – 7 p.m., Battle of the DeeJays from 7 – 10:30 p.m. and Fireworks display at 10:30 – 10:45 p.m.

Community Amnesty Day 10 July: 8 a.m2:30 p.m. Unit Entrance at Ammunition Supply Point #1. Simply approach the gate, let the ASP

personnel know that you have amnesty, and they will take it from you. The Department of the Army and USAREUR have recognized that people may have acquired abandoned or unauthorized A&E from a variety of sources: training ranges, souvenirs from peacekeeping missions, and military artifacts found from battles waged centuries ago, just to name a few. This program provides personnel an avenue to return A&E to government control and remain anonymous in the process. Should you approach that co-worker with a drinking problem or what constitutes as a problem with alcohol? What does it mean to have a drug-free workplace anyway? This class can help answer these questions! Understand how you can help in the effort to keep your organization drug-free. Enterprise Email makes user attributes changes DMDC has made some fantastic updates to the milConnect portal allowing users to select the capitalization of their name, as well as being able to add hyphens or apostrophes. All the changes are done using DMDC's milConnect portal. Although DMDC is still working to make the portal easier to use, it can sometimes be a little tricky for those who aren't familiar with it, so we have created a guide that will walk you through making the updates you desire. The guide can be found here. This site requires CAC authentication.

U.S. Army Tax Centers Remain Open Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, 7A JMTC The eight U.S. Army tax assistance centers in Bavaria are remaining open to assist taxpayers with filing current and past year returns and amending tax returns. This free service is available to all Soldiers, spouses, DOD civilians and authorized I.D. cardholders. Americans living in Germany can file their tax returns until June 15 if they do not owe money or penalties. The Rose Barracks tax center is scheduled to remain open through June. The Grafenwoehr center is scheduled to remain open until Sept. 30 in anticipation of the redeploying 172d Soldiers. Soldiers serving in a combat zone, and their spouses, have at least 180 days upon return from combat to file and pay any taxes. There is an automatic freeze on any payments or filing actions while a soldier is deployed in a combat zone. Amending returns when there was an initial filing error by you or another preparer may increase your refund. For example, sometimes taxpayers file their return without a newborn child’s Social Security number, or forget to exclude Social Security income from their taxes Our offices can help fix these errors, as well as help with new tax return preparation. U.S. Forces ration policy change for alcohol By Installation Management Command Europe: After a legal review and acceptance by U.S. Customs officials, the total number of liters of alcohol that can be purchased per person per month by U.S. Forces in some European counties is changed from 6.5 liters to 6 liters. Additionally, liqueurs with more than 33 percent alcohol by volume are now rationed along with distilled spirits (liquors). Five or more miniature bottles (.05 liters) purchased together are now also rationed. These changes affect Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Spain, and Turkey. U.S. Forces Ration Card, AE Form 600-702C, has been revised, and ration card holders will be issued the new ration card when their old one expires.

EDGE! Summer Strength and Conditioning Tuesdays and Thursdays: 3:30-5 p.m. at the Main Post Fitness Center; transportation provided from Vilseck High

School. The program is open to 7-12 graders registered with CYSS; enroll at Parent Central Services, Youth Centers or online. Strength and Conditioning training is available to all Middle School and High School athletes and potential athletes to prepare for physically and mentally for the School Sports season throughout the summer; in partnership with Adult Sports.

Little League baseball looking for volunteers A start up charter for Little League baseball is looking for volunteers in many capacities, including for the Board of Directors in the Grafenwoehr, Vilseck, Hohenfels and Ansbach communities. Teams have already formed in Grafenwoehr and Vilseck and are also looking for players to compete in this year-round baseball opportunity. CYSS Summer Programs and Youth Camps

Now - 24 August: CYSS will offer weekly camps to include a weekly, all-day trip. Cost per week is based on income

and includes activities, breakfast and lunch. After camp, the Youth Center will remain open for free service. Youth will be able to enjoy all of our ongoing offers and events such as: computer lab, cooking club, Torch Club, indoor and outdoor sports, special German/American Club activities, and much more! Our summer highlight is the overnight trip to Euro Disney. Casualty Management training 17-18 July: The Casualty Management Office will provide Casualty Notification Officer/Casualty Assistance Officer

Training, from 9 a.m4:30 p.m., in Grafenwoehr’s Bldg. 244, Room 219. The community is in need of trained civilian employees GS-09/equivalent and above. Note: This is a two-day course. The Casualty Notification Officer (CNO) and Casualty Assistance Officer (CAO) serves as the Army’s liaison to pass information relating to the Soldier or the incident between the Army and the Family, thus, it is of the utmost importance to provide that information accurately, promptly, and with much detail as possible. FAST Classes for July and August Registration for the next three upcoming FAST Classes at the East Post (Grafenwoehr) Education Center now open. Class dates are 17-27 July, 06-17 Aug., and 20-30 Aug. Classes will be held at Bldg. 538, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Soldiers who have redeployed since 1 January 2012 will have priority in the August classes; check with the Education Centers for details.

– 4 p.m. Functional Academic Skills Training (FAST) provides Soldiers with instruction in reading, mathematics, and language skills and is an excellent tool to prepare Soldiers to raise their GT score. A food safety class required for food service personnel who prepare or serve food to the public within the Graf/Vilseck community. Summer Serenades in Weiden In 92637 Weiden, at the Pavilion in the Max-Reger-Park, opposite the parking block on Schlörplatz. These serenades are highly popular so you may want to be there early. Bring along some folding chairs or a blanket to sit on, bring a picnic and perhaps even some champers, and enjoy the lovely music.

It might also be advisable to bring some sunscreen lotion and insect repellent, just to be safe. Musikanten," "Weißenbrunner Kirwaleit," "Zottiramas," "Volkstanzgruppe Stadler" as well as "Goißlschnalzer Neuersdorf" (goißlschnalzn = cracking whips). The romantic Schlosspark - a protected natural landmark normally closed off to the public - turns into a beautiful backdrop for high-quality musical and theatrical performances during the Summer Fest. Small stages under century-old trees accommodate the artists and the diverse program, ranging from classical to funny. "Walking acts" will entertain the audience during the breaks. The main stage in front of the impressive East Wing of the palace becomes the dance floor for the Summer Night Ball on Friday and Saturday evening. The highlight on Saturday night is a Baroque fireworks display accompanied by classical music. It's seems to be taking you back to the court of Louis XIV. Ambitious restaurateurs will provide gratifying meals, and exquisite vendors offer life-style accessories around the palace. Closest free car parks are "Dultplatz" (Am Protzenweiher/ Oberpfalzbrücke); adjacent "Protzenweiher" (opposite Protzenweiher 27); neighbouring "Wöhrdstraße" (at Wöhrdstraße 18); and adjacent "Unterer Wöhrd" (Wöhrdstraße

60/62). There is also the "Donaumarkt" parking lot (Donaumarkt 1) which is "a walk across the bridge" closer than the "Wöhrdstraße" car park, but it's not free-of-charge, and it's blocked on Saturday mornings for the Regensburg produce market. From any of these car parks it's only a very short walk across one of the bridges, and you're there. BTW, did you know you can get a map of Regensburg's city center from the Tourist Info for free? Go to the "Altes Rathaus" (old city hall) as directed by the brown signs, and ask for a copy.

Motorcycle Convention 29 June-1 July: in 92421 Schwandorf, on the Mulzerwiese fest site in Krondorf subdivision (ca. 45 km / 28 miles north

of Regensburg). It's a big celebrations with camp fires, live music with Eddy Gabler, a special exhibit, the German TÜV (vehicle inspection) will be there with info material, test drives, various awards (e.g. for the oldest motorcycle), and much more! The fest begins Fri. at 4 p.m. and ends Sun. at midday.

Volksfest and Krämermarkt (Street Market) 29 June-4 July: in 91541 Rothenburg, on the Fest Site at the Spitaltor (gate at car park P1).

Bavarian-Chinese Summer 30 June-01 July: in 92345 Dietfurt in the inner city and along Hauptstraße (ca. 35 km / 22 miles SW of Hohenfels).

This weekend, Dietfurt is turning into a Bavarian-Chinese promenade. Cultural and culinary delights from both countries will entice the visitors’ ears, tongues and hearts. Furthermore, several bands and many surprises await you. In addition, there is a big race on Sat. 30 June that will lead the runners through the Altstadt (Old Town).

Mariahilfberg-Fest 30 June-8 July: in 92249 Amberg, around the beautiful pilgrimage church Maria-Hilf on top of the hill. Access to the

Maria-Hilf church is easy (click link for map) but please use the designated parking areas. The fest is supported by the RC church and has no rides, but plenty of food and refreshments in a romantic area.

Soccer: UEFA European Championship 2012

Through 1 July: There will be a lot of coverage on European and

international television, and you might come across public soccer viewing sites in city centers and/or fest sites. Why not join the fans and take part in the football parties? If you are interested yourself, you can keep up-to-date via the UEFA homepage and many online magazines such as FourFourTwo, for example. And go Deutschland!

Seminargasse / Malteserplatz. Free concert with "D'Woihauser". The concert will move to the adjacent Malteser building in case of inclement weather.

yards left of the main entrance to the train station, at the end of the freight depot). Stretching over two large rooms, the club has built a stunning landscape with a love for many details. Air Show and Fest: "Fliegerfest" 1 July: 10 a.m. - 10 p.m., in 91171 Greding at the Schutzendorf airfield (ca. 55 km / 34 miles west of Hohenfels). Apart

from lots of food and drinks, you can enjoy the sightseeing flights, aerobatics, parachute jumps, hot-air balloons, and much more! No entry fees. The action starts at 2 p.m. both days but there is also a field mass on Sunday at 10 a.m.

Open Doors at the THW (Technical Emergency Relief) 1 July: 1:30 p.m., in 92637 Weiden, at their station on Mooslohstraße 95a. Have a look around their newly refurbished

station and, more importantly, at their vehicles and equipment. The staff will show what they do and how they assist in an emergency situation. Children can have fun in a painting competition.

Fun Fair: Volksfest - "Kirchweih" 5 - 11 July: in 91522 Ansbach, on the Festplatz "Hofwiese", Nürnberger Straße 32.

Highlight will be the grand "Heimat-Festzug" parade on Sun., 08 July. From here it's only a very short walk along Hospitalstraße and Würzburger Straße to reach the Altstadt / Martin-Luther-Platz. 2) at the Messegelände on Schalkhäuser Straße - FREE. A short walk down Schalkhäuser Straße will take you into the Altstadt. The walk is slightly longer than from the Aquella pool. 3) all other car parks are not free but they are even closer to the Altstadt: Rezatwiese, Eyber Straße, Promenade, Reitbahn, Karlsplatz (in front of / opposite the Catholic church).

"Harley Stampede" 6&7 July: at the Pullman City Fun Park in 94535 Eging am See, Ruberting 30 (ca. 100 km / 62 miles SE of

Regensburg). Bikes, Bikes, Bikes! It's a feast for all bikers, with numerous show events like a bike show, live music, "bikini bike wash", body painting, and much more! Click here for photos from last year. Caution: as the event names already suggest, those particular events are not suitable for children and/or conservative adults. Legal minimum age requirement is 16. Tickets cost an additional 2 Euros to the regular price, special tickets for 2 days access are available. The Pullman City Fun Park offers a large variety of non-violent Western activities for the whole family: Western shows, Native American dances, magic shows, and much more; the whole show program is online but only in German. Opening times: mid-April - 31 Oct. 2012, daily from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Admission (only GE): Adults: 13 Euros. Children 4 - 16 years: 7 Euros. Children under 4 if accompanied by their parents: free. Fest: Bürgerfest 6-8 July: in 95448 Bayreuth, historic city center around Maximilianstraße

Several thousand people will roam through Bayreuth’s city center around the Stadtkirche (city church). The local breweries will provide lots of beer, and music and theater performances will accompany the fest, as will an artisans’ market on Sun., 08 July. Best location to park is in the parking block at the Rotmain-Center (shopping center) on Hohenzollernring 58. Cross the road via the little bridge to access the Rotmain-Center, pass through it (also gives you some great shopping opportunities), exit at the main entrance and cross the road to enter the Altstadt. Or just follow the crowds.

BMW Motorcycle Days

6-8 July: in 82467 Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Garmisch subdivision, Talstation Hausberg (ski lift station). "The Biggest

BMW Motorcycle Party in the World", as the organizers call it on their homepage (only GE), attracts over 30,000 (!) bikers from all over the world. You can take part in driver's training, test drives, special sales, tuning equipment, shows, stunt riding, FMX shows, a camp fire, and the legendary "Classic Convoy" through the streets of Garmisch.

Tradition: Schäfer-Fest = Shepherds Fest 8 July: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., in 92363 Breitenbrunn, fest site along Dietfurter Straße (ca. 27 km / 17 miles SW of Hohenfels).

Fest and market focusing on sheep and its products, with its own Website (only in German). A day celebrating the importance of sheep in the Altmühltal (Altmühl valley). For a very long time, sheep have been an important economical as well as ecological factor in the area: their wool and meat provided income to the shepherds, and their grazing of young bushes determines the juniper heaths and allows rare plants to grow that are extinct in other areas - and it makes their meat very delicious. At this fest, you can witness traditional craftsmanship surrounding sheep products, like sheep shearing, spinners on their spinning wheels, or weavers. And why not try some lamb delicacies? Or you can watch traditional dance performances by Shepherds, make a trip on a horse-and-carriage, take part in a guided nature walk around Breitenbrunn (in German), and try your luck in a raffle. A great day out for the whole family!

Fest: Seefest 8 July: midday, in 92355 Velburg, at the swimming pool "Naturbad Altenveldorf", Seestraße 18 (ca. 18 km / 11 miles

west of Hohenfels).

Samba Festival 13 - 15 July: in 96450 Coburg, on Marktplatz and all around the city center (ca. 55 km / 35 miles north of Bamberg). A

large car park is located along Schützenstraße, the city center is only around 300 yards to the north. Once a year, Coburg turns into "a second Rio de Janeiro", with breath-taking rhythms, colourful costumes and funny floats. Over 85 Samba groups from all over Europe and Brazil will turn Coburg on its head for this weekend - that equals around 2,600 Sambistas, dancers and musicians, as well as Capoeristas. It is too good to miss!

Sandboarding Competition: The SandSpirit 13 - 15 July: in 92242 Hirschau at the Freizeitpark Monte Kaolino (leisure park, link only GE), Wolfgang-Droßbach-

Straße 113 (ca. 14 km / 9 miles SE of Vilseck). Sandboarding is what the name suggests: snowboarding on sand, and what better location than the sand hill Monte Kaolino? The disciplines are dual slalom (opponents compete on two parallel courses); giant slalom (only real snowboards and old clothes allowed -> "Bad Taste Awards"); and boarder cross (course with different obstacles). A big party will follow in the evening, after the races. Have a look at some of the photos to get an impression. An online registration will be made available on time.

Days of Magic: Bamberg Zaubert

13 - 15 July: in 96047 Bamberg, on and around Maximiliansplatz

Over 100 illusionists, jugglers, and street performers will turn the whole city center into a huge stage (actually, it's 25 stages), and entertain and amaze both the young and still-young! In fact, there is also a competition - winner will be the person who manages to impress the audience the most. In addition, there will be vendors selling all kinds of magic articles. Admission is FREE! And they even have a website in English! Hours of performances: Friday 5 p.m. - midnight. Saturday 11 a.m. - midnight. Sunday 1 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.

Gospel Concert with The Riga Dom Boys Choir 18 July: 7 p.m., in 91541 Rothenburg, Spitalkirche Heilig-Geist (church), Rossmühlgasse 5. This choir from Latvia is

famous for its synthesis of musicality, nuances, accuracy and purity of sound. Its repertoire ranges from medieval songs to modern classics. They will take you on a fantastic trip through the world of sound, beauty, and spirituality. Ticket sales start mid-June, call the Tourist Info at 09861-404-800. African-Caribbean Festival 19 - 22 July: in 95448 Bayreuth, at the Ehrenhof on Kanzleistraße and Maximilianstraße.

This is an exciting festival with lots of live music (open air) and delicious culinary delights. Over 50 stalls offer African and Caribbean goods and foods. Over 18,000 visitors enjoyed this festival last year! Best location to park is in the parking block at the Rotmain-Center (shopping center) on Hohenzollernring 58. Cross the road via the little bridge to access the Rotmain-Center, pass through it (also gives you some great shopping opportunities), exit at the main entrance and cross the road to enter the Altstadt. Or just follow the crowds.

"Weiden Dreams" Art and Shopping on a Lovely Summer's Evening

20 July: 7 p.m. - midnight, in 92637 Weiden, all around the Altstadt = old city. Click for a map of suggested car parks.

Musicians, artists and performers will take you by the hand (metaphorically speaking) and with your help, turn Weiden’s city center into an amazing dreamscape. Especially for this event, shops are allowed to open until midnight. Furthermore, an artisans market at the Unterer Markt (next to the historic city hall) will offer beautiful, handcrafted goods.

Fest: Stadtgraben-Fest 20 & 21 July: in 91522 Ansbach, in the Stadtgraben (moat) park along Jahnstraße.

The fest ends with the Green Night on Saturday, see there. Click for a map of suggested car parks: 1) at the Aquella Freizeitbad (indoor swimming pool), on Hospitalstraße / Hohenzollernring - FREE. From here it's only a very short walk along Hospitalstraße and Würzburger Straße to reach the Altstadt / Martin-Luther-Platz. 2) at the Messegelände on Schalkhäuser Straße - FREE. A short walk down Schalkhäuser Straße will take you into the Altstadt. The walk is slightly longer than from the Aquella pool. 3) all other car parks are not free but they are even closer to the Altstadt: Rezatwiese, Eyber Straße, Promenade, Reitbahn, Karlsplatz (in front of / opposite the Catholic church).

Fair: "Bio Erleben" 20 - 22 July: 10 a.m. - 10 p.m., in 90403 Nürnberg, on Hauptmarkt. This outdoor fair offers a large variety of

ecologically-produced wares, from clothes to make-up to food, of course. There will be live cooking classes, music, and special entertainment for children.

European Sand-Ski Championship 21 July: in 92242 Hirschau at the Freizeitpark Monte Kaolino (only GE), Wolfgang-Droßbach-Straße 113 (ca. 14 km / 9

miles SE of Vilseck). At the weekend, around 120 skiers will compete against each other. They come from the well-known European skiing nations: Austria, Switzerland, Italy and France, most participants will be from Germany and the Czech Republic, though. The entertainment surrounding this competition is just as much of a magnet, as the après-ski parties lack the stupefying boozed-up fest-tent music. http://www.sandski.de/.

Classic Open Air and “Picknick im Park” Sun., 22 July and Sat., 04 Aug: 8 p.m. either day, in 90478 Nürnberg, Luitpoldhain, along Bayernstraße. "Picknick

im Park" is often referred to as the "Woodstock of Classical Music" (only GE): enjoy the performance, cheer the artists, and even a little rain shower can’t scare you away. Most people also have a little picnic to complement the music. Traditionally, these open-air concerts are free to the public. Each festive day ends with brilliant fireworks. If you want their token (a bird pin), it’s 4 Euros.

Mary J. Blige Wed., 18 July: 7 p.m., in 55130 Mainz, at the Volkspark along Göttelmannstraße (ca. 46 km / 30 miles west of Frankfurt). This is her only concert in Germany! Tickets. If you want to avoid the traffic chaos, it is recommended you travel to the Volkspark by bus. Two bus stations are directly in front of the park, namely "Volkspark" and "Am Viktorstift", both frequented by bus lines 62, 63, and 92.

Kool and the Gang Celebration - the party band is back in Germany 26 and 27 July. Thurs., 26 July: 8 p.m., in 90762 Fürth, at the Stadthalle, Rosenstraße 50, ph 0911-749-120 (ca. 10 km / 6 miles west of Nürnberg). Tickets. It is highly recommended you use their public transport system (only GE): Best use the Park-and-Ride car park "Hardhöhe" along Solderstraße / Gaußstraße. From here, the U-Bahn (underground) will take you to the city center in just four minutes. Exit either at "Rathaus“ or "Fürth Hauptbahnhof“. The P+R car park has 78 spaces, 2 of which are for handicapped; If you park there between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., you will not be charged for the first four hours. Parking in excess of four hours costs 1.50 Euros total for the whole day ("Tagespauschale"). You can reach the P+R car park from the B8 (Würzburger Straße) when you drive in the "Stadtmitte" (city center) direction, then turn right at Söldnerstraße and continue to corner Gaußstraße.
