Week 1- Monday

The View from Down Here

I was only three years old but I still rememberhow I feeled on that day so long ago i can still seehow it all looked to me. My parents had take usto the museum with them. They had been planningthis outing for days and it was a special occasion. Iremember that mom wore a blue dress and my Fatherhad on a sute. My sister and me wore matchingdresses and we had on our patent leather shoes

Day 2

There must have been a special exhibit at themuseum it was very crouded and my sister and mebumped into strangers as we trailed after our parents.from one room to another. Was it a exhibit ofpaintings or of sculpture I cannot remember what Ido remember is growing restless as I taggd after myparents in that crowded stuffy place. Ugh

Day 3

Im knot sure when I realized that I was alone.When I looked around I could not see my Motherfather or sister any where. Panic came over me as Iwonder which way they had gone I felt relieved whenI saw my fathers familiar shoes with the pattern ofswirling dots. across the toe. I rushed over to standnext to those shoose. I took hold of the large warmhand that hung down near my shoulder.

Day 4

My relief q,uickly turned to serprise and thenembarrassment as I looked up. At the man standingin those familiar shoes. It was not my Father at all.Oh, no Who was this total stranger. I bursted intotears arid started to run. Suddenly, i was swept upinto my mothers arms in a comforting hug. Whenshe herd the commotion she come to my rescue. theconcerned stranger looked at me. Then he smiled.so did i

Week 2- Monday

An American Classic

Little house on the prairie is the second book inthe autobiographical series by beloved american authorlaura ingalls wilder. The first book Little house inthe big woods is the story of Iauras childhood in thewisconsin woods. Laura was seven years old when herfamilee moved from wisconsin to kansas. she traviledin a covered wagon with ma pa older sister mary andbaby Carrie.

Day 2The early part of the book describes everyday

life during the families trip. We see how pa took abrake from driving the wagon to stop and hunt forfood. Ma cooked the meals and she even did thefamilys laundry Laura and mary enjoyed all the newsights and sounds of the prairie and Ma had funwatching them chase prairie hens and their chicks.

The family finally reached a place on the prairiewhere they decided to settle the next part of thebook describes all the stages of building a log houseand its furnishings and it also describes bilding astable. Laura described the familys daily life andshe explained the chores done by each member ofthe family? Readers will see the difference. betweenmodern-day and pioneer life.

Day 4

By the end of Little house on the prairie theamerican government had decided that settlers couldnot remain in the area of kansas known as Indianterritory. Once again, the ingalls family packed uptheir covered wagon. And moved on. Bored in SpaceFour years had past since we blasted off Worim.All the planets in our star system were so crowdedthat we couldnt find a place to land we wanted tostay on Worim but it was too dangerous.“the worms have eaten everything that wasgreen and most things that arent,” mom said. “wecould be next”Weve got to find a new planet where we cansettle. said dad.

I had read all the books that we had onboredour craft and our communication system didnt offermuch entertainment. There was so much littercluttering deep space that we could barely pick upthe important space traffic messages? iwas getting pretty tired of the same old dull boring routineevery day’There must be something you can do in thescience lab Robin, mom finally suggested one day

“Well mom what did you have in mind” I askedas we entered the lab togetherRobin remember good old Grow-Bot? Schools Should Lead by ExampleI beleave schools should lead the way in caringfor our environment for example, many children eat aschool lunch. Every day and school kitchens all overour nation make these lunches. Unfortunately, mostschool lunches are packaged in materials made fromnonrenewable resources Plastic packages aluminum foiland plastic silverware all use nonrenewable resources.This also create waste in our landfills

Day 2

Schools should use product made from recycledand renewable materials there are many new typesof food packages made of recyclable materials Forinstance, if schools used cardboard packaging forlunches they could recycle thousands of packagesevery day Also, think of all the paper that schoolsuse if every school across the nation recycle papercountless trees could be saved

Day 3

schools should make sure that every classroomhas several recycle bins so paper plastic aluminum andglass can all be recycled, many student already recycleat home. bont schools think that he should set agood example and practice recycling, too. Anotherway that schools can set a good example is to havea environmental awareness program. They can plan awhole week of activities for students

Day 4

on monday, students could plant trees Since ittakes 17 trees to make one ton of paper plantingwould help replace this renewable resource. Ontuesday, schools could challenge students to a “zerogarbage” day the goal would be to see if studentscan use recyclable and reusable materials to avoidcreating waiste products. schools should leed byexample and motivate students to care for our planet

Blackbeard let his beard grow out to a frizzybushy tangle he wove braids into his beard and heeven tyed them with ribbons. He stuck fuses fromcannons under his pirate hat. These fuses were madeof string soaked in watter mixed with gunpowderWhen blackbeard lit the fuses they sizzled andsmoaked and their ghostly light and foul gassy smellscared his victims

A Gifted GirlBallerina maria talichief was born on a Indianreservation in oklahoma in 1q25. Her Fathers familywas from the Osage tribe her Mothers’ ancestorswere from scotland and ireland. The osage once huntbuffalo and gathered food in the area that is nowarkansas, kansas missouri and oklahoma. After takingmost of their land the U.S. goverment moved theosage to a reservation in oklahoma

After oil was found on the osage reservation inthe late 1800s the tribe became very welthy. Mariasfather Alex tallchief always had a very comfortablelife because of this. He feeled he did not need togo to college or have an career. marias mother Ruthtallchief wanted her children to learn as much aspossible. So maria and marjorie her younger sisterbegan music and dance lessons at around age three

even when they was q,uite young Both maria andher sister showed great promise in music and dance.Their mother desided the family should move to losangeles california. She beleived that her daughterswould have a better chance to develop their talentsIn hollywood. The family made the move when mariawas entering second grade

Day 4Maria began to focus on dance more than music

she started studying with a famous russian ballerinaBronislava Nijinska. She studyed with madame nijinskafor five years until finishing high school. She wasthen invited to preform with a professional balletcompany. This was the start of her brilliant successfulcareer as a “prima ballerina,” or ballet star.
