Grade 10 Personal Project – demonstrating learning
While in some school systems this time of year in Grade 10 is spent with students doing constant revision and memorizing easily searchable facts for exams, our students have been working on their Personal Projects. The range and quality of the student work is of the highest standard. The opportunity to present to parents, teachers and other students kept us all engaged on Tuesday night and Wednesday during school time.
What’s next for Grade 10? Well, while in some systems the students would be looking at approximately five weeks of sitting external exams which are not required by any university our students will be with their teachers continuing their learning journey. We will have a week of exams in June as one form of assessment to check for learning.
Thank you to Ms Keus and all the teachers throughout the school that worked with our Grade 10 to help them reach these high standards and then demonstrate their learning outcomes.

Spring time at NIS
School Fees Collection Date
Dear Parents，
Please be informed that Nanjing International School has issued invoices for Semester 1 of School Year 2019/2020 on Friday 15 March 2019.
All parents have received an email with the JPG invoice attached and are responsible for payment of the fees.A re-enrolment fee or minimum payment of RMB 25,000 is required for returning students to ensure their place in the next grade for the 2019/2020 school year. The fee must be paid by 15 April 2019.The balance of school fees must be paid by the due date 31 May 2019.
The re-enrolment fee will be refunded in full if the Admissions Office receives written notification on or before the 14 June 2019 of your intention to leave NIS. The notice must be sent to the following email address: [email protected] this date, the minimum payment will not be refunded.When appropriate, please pass this information to your company's Finance or Human Resources department and arrange for the payment to be made by the due date.
You can also view your child(ren)'s school fee invoice in Veracross from today March15th.The instructions are below:
1.Log into Veracross Parent Portal: http://portals.veracross.com/nis2.Click “Billing/Invoices" to view the Billing Account Page3.Click "View " to view and "Print to PDF" to save the invoice as a pdf file

Dear Parents,
This is a time of year when some of our families will be moving on from Nanjing, either returning to their home countries or embarking on their next overseas posting. To assist our planning for the coming semester please read and follow the exit procedure below. This information may have a direct impact on new families wishing to enter our school. Your help with providing this information as early as possible is much appreciated.We understand that some parents are still unsure, but if you know kindly let us know as soon as possibleExit ProcedureOnce you know you are leaving please send an email to admissions@nanjing-‐school.com indicating your intention to leave and requesting any documentation that you may require. Let us have the name of your child or children, their current grades as well as your expected leaving date.Collect a clearance form from Reception, or download off the website.Clearance forms need to be completed for each leaving student.On the last day of school documents will only be handed over if we have received your completed clearance form.You can find information about the Transfer Procedures on our website on the Parent Portal Link

Swimming Noah!and!Paige!have!shared!some!insights!on!how!they!feel!about!going!to!ACAMIS!in!Suzhou!this!week.!Paige!admitted!she!is!a!little!nervous!as!it!is!her!first!ACAMIS,!however!she!is!quite!looking!forward!to!it.!!Noah!seems!to!be!a!veteran!on!big!competitions!in!swimming,!he!is!super!excited!and!happy!to!go.!!Noah!loves!the!bus!trips!with!his!teammates.!!His!recommendations!to!swimmers!who!did!not!quite!make!it!this!year,!is!to!improve!on!a!stroke!they!are!weak!in.!!Paige!thinks!enthusiasm!and!trying!hard!will!get!you!eventually!on!the!ACAMIS!Team.!!NIS!will!be!travelling!with!45!students!and!15!parents!on!Thursday!to!compete.!!Good!Luck!to!all!swimmers!!!

Our!MS!girls!hosted!the!BSN!girls!volleyball!team!last!week!whilst!our!Junior!Volleyballers!travelled!to!BSN!to!play.!All!the!teams!had!fun!and!made!great!progress.!Our!CISSA!badminton!players!had!a!fantastic!time!at!their!badminton!tournament!in!Shanghai!last!weekend!and!I!am!sure!our!volleyball!teams!will!also!have!fun!as!they!travel!to!their!CISSA!tournament!this!weekend.!!Our!Junior!Volleyballers!hosted!the!Grade!6!boys!from!Xianlin!Primary!school!for!a!volleyball!game!on!Wednesday.!They!had!fun!mixing!the!teams!up!and!playing!with!some!very!good!volleyball!players.!!

• PTA Teacher Appreciation Day will be on Tuesday, March 19. We are looking forward to making it a special morning break for our TEACHERS! Reminder emails with final details about food drop-off and playground supervision have been sent to all the helpers who signed-up.
• Next PTA Coffee Meeting is Wednesday, March 27 at 8:15am in Centre Cafe.
• New Committee Team 2019-2020 - Many of our current PTA Committee members will be moving on at the end of this school year. A majority of the Committee positions will become available. The PTA gives you the opportunity to put your skills and hobbies to use for the benefit of our entire school. It is also an opportunity to make friendships and learn what makes NIS such a special community. We welcome you to join the team! To learn more, feel free to ask the current committee members details about the positions available for next school year.
• Flowers are blooming, the birds are chirping, we are starting to see the signs of Spring. The PTA Committee is planning very special family friendly event - Spring Fun Day. It will be held on Saturday, April 27 at NIS. This is an outdoor event with fun activities such as carnival games, water play, bounce house and crafts. We will also have food, drinks, treats and music.
