Copyright © J. S. BELIEVING IN JESUS CHRIST Throughout the Easter season, all three of the Sunday readings are taken from the New Testament—the Christian scriptures. Together they explore what it means to believe in Jesus as the Christ, the One who fulfilled the prophecies of the Jewish scriptures. Today’s selections refer to our human weakness, yet they emphasize the forgiveness and peace that are available to those who put their faith in “Jesus Christ the righteous one” (1 John 2:2). In the Acts of the Apostles Peter invites everyone to “repent, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be wiped away” (Acts 3:19). The First Letter of John calls Jesus Christ “expiation for our sins” (1 John 2:2). Finally, in the Gospel Jesus greets the disciples with “Peace” and urges them to preach “repentance, for the forgiveness of sins” (Luke 24:47). Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

THE 2018 ANNUAL MINISTRIES APPEAL (AMA) has “officially closed”: We want to take this time to thank the 258 donors (12.2% of our parishioners) who made pledges or one-time donations totaling over $84,000 – THANK YOU! Our obligation to the diocese has been reached ($35,000) which means that the parish will begin receiving “rebate” money (money in excess of the diocesan obligation). As Fr. Manny stated in his parish letter, “now that the restrooms have been rebuilt, we need to replenish the parish savings account.” He would also like to remodel the front of the parish office for security for our staff and paint the outside of the parish buildings. We need your support to accomplish these tasks. So, even though the campaign has officially closed, we will gladly continue to take your pledges or one-time donations to continue the work of the parish. Whether you send your donation to the diocese or to the parish office, please be assured that we will keep accurate accounting. We want to encourage “total” participation, so if you are going to put cash in the envelopes, please include your name – anonymous donations are not counted toward our percentage of donors. Our mailing went out to over 2,115 parishioners … just imagine what we could do if each family gave something. The AMA theme this year is “Your gift brings life to our Faith, love to our Family and light to our Future.” Your gift IS pure life, love and light for our greater Family! If you have not made a pledge, please continue to prayerfully think about how you can respond to this call to carry on Christ’s work in our Church and community. Remember … it’s not how much you give, but that you give! Extra pledge envelopes are available from the parish office (call and one will be provided for you).
