The Four Way Test
1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER
FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENIFICIAL to all concerned?

Help us to serve Thee all our days
President Pete’s Postbag No. 24
Welcome back, and I hope you all had an enjoyable festive season, and that 2013 is a good year for you all. As is known, this coming Wednesday we resume with another meeting which will be our customary picnic neart the Pizza Oven at Hovell Tree Reserve. It will start at approximately 7pm … you will have already received an e-mail message re the gathering from Nicole or Dennis with further details … these are also in this bulletin. Our condolences to Ron and Barbara Haberfield on the loss of Ron’s brother, Bruce, in Queensland shortly after Christmas. On happier news Rob Burns is making good progress and in a recent conversation with him he certainly sounded a lot brighter and he and Susan may well be coming to our gathering on Wednesday. I also spoke to Phyllis after ‘Chrissie’ to see how she was progressing, and she also sounded quite happy. Phyllis advised that she had all her family stay with her for Christmas and some stayed with her beyond . Margaret McDonald also had her immediate family for support at that special time of year, but advises it was quiet. I understand from Justin, that we may well have the presence of the District Governor Elect, Phil Clancey, and his wife Helen, at our June Changeover date. A few days later he will be our official DG for Nicole’s year in office. Much to the editor’s delight, the postbag is short this week, so other items can easily fit in. (Editor’s Note … thankyou Pete !). Look forward to seeing those who can make it on Wednesday evening. Pete

Club Welfare –Members and Families
Comings and Goings Welcome back to all those members and families who journeyed to holiday locations over the Xmas Break. Greg and Jill Aplin have returned from there visit to France to catch up with daughter Katherine. General Information. Great news that Rob Burns is recuperating well from his recent major surgery. We are all looking forward to catching up with you soon Rob. Thank you to Max Blomeley for keeping us up to date. A big thanks to all those members and guests who attended the Christmas Luncheon and made it so special this year. it takes a lot of organizing and Julie and I are always hopeful of a fun time together. Wonderful to see some happy kids there … thank you Karin and Justin & Tabitha … also to Merilyn playing mum again! Condolences to Ron Haberfield on the passing of his brother, Bruce. Have a Laugh How Baza Young lost his Job with Lifeline after only 4 hours service … “I don’t know why I was sacked from my job with Lifeline” … said Baza. “They just would not tell me …here’s what happened…..” A bloke phoned and said - “ I am Abdul Mohammed, and I am going to kill myself” “Please talk more slowly” I said. “I am going to kill myself - I am lying on the Railway Track now waiting for the train to come”!! All I said was – “Abdul, remain calm and stay on the line”!!! Thought for the Week Let’s make the next six months of Peter’s year one to remember and carry on with our great club work. Best wishes to all for a fantastic year ahead, Welfare Officer Barry “ Baz” Young

Aloha!
It is my pleasure to extend President Tanaka's personal invitation to attend the Rotary Global Peace Forum in

The theme of the Honolulu Peace Forum is "The Green Path to Peace" and will focus on empowering the
New Generations' visions of peace. You will have the opportunity to:

• Engage with young adults and help them express their ideas, plan peace projects, and become catalysts for
peace
• Partner with the crew of the Hokule'a Voyaging Canoe as they embark on a three-year journey around the
world to spread messages of peace
• Learn about Hawaiian history and culture and enjoy local entertainment
For additional details and information on how to register, please visit the Honolulu Peace Forum website.
Information on all three Rotary Global Peace Forums scheduled for 2012-13 can be found on President
Tanaka's web page, www.rotary.org/peaceforums.
