Hello Bellevue,

It’s fall. It’s November. It’s Thanks-

giving. As I’ve been turning my attention

lately towards Thanksgiving and the holi-

days that are quickly approaching, I’ve been

reminded of a statement I read a few

years ago by an unknown author, “Don’t rush through Thanksgiving too quickly. One of the greatest problems with Christmas is that just after Thanksgiving (maybe even before it’s over) we start thinking too quickly of what we WANT rather than being thankful for what we HAVE.” What a tremendous reminder for

all of us.

Just think about some of the great

things we all have—salvation, family, provi-

sion, health, love, friends, America…just to

name a few. Be sure not to focus so much

on what you don’t have that you miss what

you do have. And remember, as the Apostle

Paul reminds us, in everything give thanks; for

this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. I Thes

son…Pastor Aubrey

Visa/Mastercard Fraud

A new scam is moving across the country. The caller provides

you with all of your information, except one piece. The scam

works like this:

Person calling says - “This is (name) and I am calling from

the Security and Fraud Department of VISA/Mastercard.

My badge number is (12460), your card has been flagged for

an unusual purchase pattern, and I am calling to verify. This

would be on your VISA card which was issued by (name of

bank). Did you purchase as Anti-Tele-marketing Device for

$497.99 from a marketing company based in Arizona? When

you say “NO” the caller continues with, “then we will be issu-

ing a credit to your account. This is a company we have been

watching and charges range from $297 to $497, just under the

$500 purchase pattern that flags most cards. Before your

next statement, the credit will be sent to (gives your address).

Is that correct?’ You say ‘Yes’. The caller continues - I will

be starting a Fraud Investigation. If you have any questions,

you should call the 1-800 number listed on the back of your

card (1-800-VISA) and ask for Security. You will need to re-

fer to this Control Number. The caller then gives you a 6

digit number. ‘Do you need to read it again?’ Here is the

IMPORTANT part on how the scam works - The caller then

says, “I need to verify you are in the possession of your card”.

He will ask you to turn your card over and look for some

numbers. There are 7 numbers; the first 4 are part of your

card number, the last 4\3 are the Security Numbers that ver-

ify you are the possessor of the card. These are the numbers

you sometimes use to make Internet Purchases to prove you

have the card. The caller will ask you to read the last 3 num-

bers to him. After you tell the caller the 3 numbers, he will

say, “That is correct. I just needed to verify that the card has

not been lost or stolen, and that you still have your card. Do

you have any other question?” The 3 digit security code on

the back of the card is what they want and cannot get without

you telling them. If you get a call like this one hang up imme-

diately and call the number on the back of your card and

speak with security. Let then know that you received this

call. Do not give out this number to anyone that calls you!

From all of the staff at Bellevue

We wish you a
