From the Diocese

Afraid and amazed.  The gospels from both the vigil and the day tell us not to fear.  An unnamed angel stands near the father of John the Baptist saying, “Do not be afraid.”  At his somewhat surprising birth and naming, “all were amazed.”  Why?  Because the hand of God is at work!

How will I lean into God’s hand this week?  How will I trust in God’s good mercy toward me?  Let me sing Psalm 139 (or “O God, You Search Me” by Bernadette Farrell)

all week.

ACTION ALERT iTunes Gift Cards Scam Alert - It has been brought to the attention of our IT office that a scam is going around the country targeting Catholics with “Can you do a favor for a priest?” The way the scam works: someone makes up an email address that is approximate to a priest’s name and then contacts ministers, staff and parishioners. The email contains a fake request from the priest asking that iTunes gift cards be sent to another address so they may be given to someone in need. It is very clever, because they are targeting faithful people who are typically generous people and using a public figure in the way of their pastor. For more information, please go to www.patheos.com/blogs/deaconsbench/2018/06/action-alert-scam-from-priests-targeting-catholics/.

Pope’s Choir from Sistine Chapel coming to Fox Theatre, St. Louis, MO July 9, 2018 The Pope’s Choir from the Sis-tine Chapel is making their first US tour and will come to the Fabulous Fox in St Louis on Monday, July 9th at 7pm.  St. Louis is one of only eight cities in the entire country selected for the choir’s Unites State Tour, and this performance is a gift directly from the Vatican to the St. Louis region.  As the world’s oldest active choir, the group symbolizes the crossing of culture and faith through songs of peace and unity.  Hearing the Pope’s personal choir live in person is a once-in-a-life-time opportunity to celebrate divine music and the human spirit.
