FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OUR VISION

We will be an intergenerational community of warmth where disciples

are nurtured into passionate obedience to God our Father-expressed

and extended into our community through the lives of our members as

they go out to love, serve, and proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ.

Proclaiming Christ, Promoting Disciples

STRATEGIC INITIATIVES DEFINED

DISCIPLESHIP: Learning to worship, serve, and witness within the context

of relationships so that we become more like Christ.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH: Developing relationships with and caring for the

needs of our neighbors for the cause of Christ.

STRENGTHEN CHURCH CONNECTIONS: Developing relationships within the

Christian community that provide care for each other’s needs and

encourage the discipleship of each other for the cause of Christ.

IMPROVING INTERGENERATIONAL INVOLVEMENT: Practicing discipleship,

community outreach, and strengthening church connections across

generational lines.

GOVERNANCE: Structuring leadership to best serve as guides the

congregation as we carry out the mission of Christ through the church.

IMPROVE and UPDATE FACILITIES: Completing any necessary renovations

and expansions to ensure that the building is a hub for discipleship,

outreach, and church connections.

Welcome guests! Welcome to First Baptist Church! It’s good to have you! Come say,

“Hi!” at our Welcome Desk in the church atrium so we can learn a little

bit more about each other. Have questions? We’ve got answers,

refreshments in our First Link area… and a gift for you too!

While you are here… Connect over coffee Our First Link area is stocked with fresh coffee, donuts, and other snacks

every Sunday morning. Feel free to have a seat, mingle, and enjoy the

refreshments.

Connect through worship We worship Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM and on Sunday evenings at

6:00 PM during the school year. Our morning service follows a more

traditional pattern of worship, while our evening service reflects more

modern patterns of worship.

Connect through fellowship and study We have Connection Groups meeting every Sunday morning and

throughout the week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Our Connection Groups are a great place to begin new relationships

through Bible Study and mission together with other Christians. Flip to

the back page for a full list of current Connection Groups and when

they gather.

Connect through membership We’d love to have you as a part of our church family. Speak with a

member of our pastoral staff for more info or email us at

[email protected].

Connect the whole family Children of all ages are welcome to join us during worship, but we also

offer childcare and children’s groups for all ages. Stop by our

Welcome Desk for directions.

FIRST FRIENDS PRESCHOOL Are you looking for a way to support the Weekday Preschool Ministry at

First Baptist Church? We are trying to stock our shelves for the upcoming

school year and the cold winter months ahead. You are welcome to

send in any of the following items… Ziploc gallon bags, Ziploc sandwich

bags, paper towels, Kleenex, Elmer’s glue sticks, plastic cutlery, crayons,

etc. The list is endless of things we need and use so your participation is

greatly appreciated. You will be blessed for giving and we will

be blessed because you gave!

There is a turquoise basket in the atrium for your donated

items. Caring for God’s precious children, Gina Dorsett

MUSIC TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT We are excited to announce that Ellen McCullough has been hired as

our new accompanist as well as handbell director. Ellen has done a

great job as interim and we are delighted that she will be staying with us

and sharing her gifts through music.

We have also been searching for an organist; unfortunately, this is not an

easy task. We are still looking at this time.

OCC, started by Samaritan’s Purse, has distributed over 146 million shoe

boxes to children in need. These are boxes that local churches or

groups have filled with items for children to enjoy along with materials

containing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. After receiving these boxes and

materials they are offered a chance to go to a more in depth course to

learn about Jesus. These boxes are such a simple gift of love that can

change the life of a child forever. Last year FBC filled over 200 boxes.

Can we do this again? Below are the steps to be a part of this ministry!

1. Pick up a box at the Welcome Desk and pray for the child who will

receive it.

2. Choose a boy or girl and the age category you wish to buy for, then

fill out the provided label. Tape the label to the lid of the box.

3. Fill the box with a variety of gifts that will bring delight to a child.

Ideas are provided along with items NOT to include. Try providing

one “wow” gift...a doll, stuffed animal, deflated soccer ball with a

pump; and then fill in around it.

4. Add $9 for each shoe box you prepare to help cover shipping costs.

You may give cash, write a check to FBC with OCC in memo line or

you may also pay on-line and print a special label from their site.

PLEASE join us as we deliver “great news and great joy to children

around the world!” Boxes are due the first week of November!

No liquids, no military or weapons (squirt guns are ok), no toothpaste, No

candy, no glass, no balls with liquid inside.
