Reading: We have been working on SELF MONITORING while we are reading to make sure that we read accurately. That means we read the words that are on the pages of the books we read without changing the words, guessing the words, missing words or adding words. Practice this at

home this week by reading out loud to your Mom or Dad at least 3 times for about 5 minutes each time. Follow with with your finger if you need to, read more slowly if you need to and ask for help AFTER you have tried to sound out new words on your own. Parents, if you notice your child makes reading errors, have them pause their reading and ask them one of the following questions to help them NOTICE their error: Did what you just read sound right? Did it make sense? This will allow them to THINK about what they just read and give them time to notice errors and to self-correct them. Re-reading is a GREAT and AMAZING strategy that will help them with this as well. Happy Reading! Parents please write a note and sign your initials in the HW book for the 3 times that your child read out loud to you to show that they are thinking while they are reading and noticing errors. *IF your child is already a VERY accurate reader and hardly makes any reading errors, then they only need to complete this task ONCE this week. how you saw the number of objects showing) ie. I saw 3 dots right here, and then noticed 4 here and I know that 4 and 7 equals 11. Use any way that you understand Math and use any Math concepts that you know to explain. (addition, subtraction, doubles, multiplying, groups etc).

3. Look at the picture a second time. There another way to see this number? Explain. This is like doing the DOTS station with Mrs. Hull (except our dots are donuts!)
