Abram and Lot Worked Together

Based on Genesis 13:1-12,14-18

Abram obeyed and traveled to wherever God told him to go. Abram traveled with his wife Sarai (SEHR igh) and family, all their servants, animals, and everything they owned. Abram was very rich. Lot, Abram's nephew, also traveled with Abram.

Page 3: Week of May 20, 2012 Lessons for the Leader … › clientimages › 43897 › children › childrens...Abram told Lot that he did not want to quarrel or fight because they were family

Lot was also rich and took his family, servants, animals, and everything they owned. There were too many animals for the land where the families moved to and lived. Both men's herdsmen (keepers of the animals) fought because there was not enough land for the animals to live on and eat. Abram and Lot could not continue to live in the same area.

Abram told Lot that he did not want to quarrel or fight because they were family. Abram told Lot to look at the land around them and choose an area to move. Abram told Lot he would move to the area opposite of Lot.

Lot looked in one direction and saw that the land had water and good land. Lot chose to move and live in the Jordan Valley. Abram moved his family in the opposite direction and lived in the land of Canaan. [Lead kids to sit in two separate areas, according to the names on their cards.]

After Lot moved away from Abram, God told Abram to look at the land in every direction. God said He would give all of the land to Abram and his family, including all the family members who would be born later. God told Abram his family would be so large it would be hard to count the people. Abram built an altar and worshiped God.
