LENT CONTINUES THIS WEDNESDAY

LENTEN THEME: “Lamb of God, Pure and Holy”

Easter is April 4th this year, so that means our 40-day countdown to Easter has begun! Our Wednesday, 6:30 PM Lenten services will all be based on the hymn: “O Lamm Gottes” (“Lamb of God, Pure and Holy” - hymn number 434 in the Lutheran Service Book (LSB)). This Wednesday will be WEEK 4. The specific service theme for each week will be:

Ash Wednesday: The Pure and Holy Lamb of God Midweek 2: The Crucified Lamb of God Midweek 3: The Patient Lamb of God Midweek 4: The Lowly Lamb of God

Midweek 5: The Lamb of God Who Takes Our Sin Midweek 6: The Lamb of God Who Suffered Scorn Maundy Thur: The Lamb of God Who has Mercy on Us

Please make every effort to attend these services. All are strongly encouraged to attend these midweek worship opportunities in addition to our Sunday services. Giving up a little of our time is a small sacrifice for Him who sacrificed everything for you!

“NOT-A-GALA” FUNDRAISER COMING IN APRIL

In lieu of a Gala this Spring we are holding a “socially distanced” fundraiser on the same weekend as the April 16 Fish Fry. The purpose is to support all of Zion’s areas of ministry.

Here’s how it will work:

This year’s fundraiser will be a “Distanced” “High Bid” Silent Auction; School families will also have the opportunity to purchase “Dress Down Day” wristband packages.

We are not seeking product / services donations as we still have all of the donations that were received for the 2020 gala. However, we ARE accepting “Above and Beyond” monetary donations

In-person viewing of all of the silent auction items will be during the 4/16 fish fry (4:30 – 7:00 PM) and again on Sunday morning, 4/18, from 10:00 – Noon.

We will offer viewing of available items to bid on via online & paper catalogs prior to the event weekend.

We will also have the catalog available through emails that will be sent to church, school and childcare families and shared on Facebook.

Anyone interested will be able to submit their “high bid” on any available package in person, through an email bid, OR by mailing in their bid sheet. All bids must be received by NOON on the Sunday of the fundraiser.

All silent auction bids will be entered in to our database and the highest bidder will be deemed the winner of that package / item. If there are 2 or more bids of the same highest bid amount, those bidders’ names will be placed in a drawing and the name drawn will be declared the winning bidder.

All winners of silent auction items will be notified by 4/21. Payment and Pick-up of silent auction items and “Dress Down Days” Wrist Band Packages will take place on Friday 4/23 and Sunday morning 4/25. Specific times will be posted in our upcoming updates.

You are also invited to make “Above and Beyond” monetary donations -- a donation slip will be included with the bidding sheet and catalog in the mailing that you will receive, as well as be available soon on Zion’s website and in the weekly emailed church and school newsletters. Usually the Gala is Zion’s biggest annual fundraiser; due to COVID we were unable to hold one in 2020 and can’t

do an in-person event this Spring, either. This, along with our enforced lower church attendance, means our offerings are down sharply; this is why your generous participation in this event is deeply appreciated!
