This week, retailers are focusing on Labor Day sales events. The Macy’s weekly promo features 30%–75% off storewide and an extra 20% off on select sale and clearance apparel with a Macy’s WOW! Pass. Savings include 50% off girls’ dresses, 75% off men’s designer clearance items and 30% off women’s fashion athletic sneakers. An extra 50% off applies to clearance selections for her.
LABOR DAY SALE
Bloomingdale’s is taking 20%–70% off selected items during its Big Brown Bag Sale event. In the women’s section, discounts apply to brands such as DKNY, Theory, Rebecca Minkoff, Burberry and Tory Burch. In the men’s section, brands such as Longchamp, Gucci, Hugo Boss, Jack Spade and Ted Baker are on sale. An extra 20% off applies to select sale and clearance items with a code.
THE BIG BROWN BAG SALE
This is the second week that Target is focusing on gadgets, offering discounts on LED televisions, Xbox consoles, smartphones, iPads and printers. The retailer is still offering a wide selection of back-to-school supplies and discounted apparel for kids. Target created an online Labor Day event, offering up to 25% off furniture and women’s and men’s fall apparel. An extra 10% off will apply with a coupon code.

The Sears Labor Day sale runs from August 30 through September 12, and features discounts on large electronic appliances such as refrigerators, dishwashers, washers and dryers. Customers can enjoy savings of up to 30% off on Kenmore appliances and up to 40% off on other brands. Savings also apply to back-to-school apparel for kids and juniors: deals include 50% off backpacks; $15.99 denim for boys; and buy one, get one 50% off on athletic shoes for the family.

JCPenney’s Labor Day sale is running for extended hours this Friday and Saturday, until 10 pm. Sale items include $36.99 Levi’s jeans for women, $39.99 Levi’s jeans for men, 40% off boys’ and girls’ Arizona apparel, 60% off eyeglasses and 20% off men’s Nike shoes. Other discounts apply to bedding, pillows, towels and cookware, and clearance items are 50%–80% off.

Walmart is celebrating the last moments of summer with a weekly promo full of outdoor dining suggestions. It features tips and recipes for cold drinks, barbecue and sweet treats such as ice cream sundaes, ice cream cupcakes and frosty fruits pops. The retailer is also offering discounts on camping equipment such as airbeds, tents and coolers.

This week, Marks and Spencer is running an online-only offer of 20% off in the women’s, lingerie, beauty, men’s, kids’ and core home departments, as well as on selected wine and hampers, when customers order by midnight on September 2. The retailer is also running a furniture sale, with discounts up to 30% off. The M&S men’s multibuy promotion—which allows customers to get a free shirt and tie with the purchase of a suit for £149 (US$229.40)—will continue until September 10.

Half-price offers for ladies include a Lace Dress at £12.49 (US$19.20) and a Patterned Kimono for £14.99 (US$23.10). Deals for men include a Short-Sleeved Hooded Top for £12.49 (US$19.20) and a Vest Top with a Print for £4.99 (US$7.70). For kids, the 50% discount offers include a girls’ Fine-Knit Jumper with a Print for £4.79 (US$7.40) and a boys’ Bodywarmer for £8.99 (US$13.80). Selected scented candles are also up to half off.

BHS offered products for the home at up to half off during its extended Bank Holiday Weekend, online-only promotion that ended September 1. Other online-exclusive offers included 20% off all women’s shoes and boots, men’s chinos at £15 (US$23.10), and 30% off women’s T-shirts and vests. The retailer is continuing its 20% off promotion on all school uniforms, and giving customers a chance to win £500 (US$769.90) on BHS kidswear if they upload a picture of a child’s first day at school to Twitter or Instagram and use the hashtag #BHSFirstDay.

This week’s highlights include electrical products: the Morphy Richards Easy Blend Deluxe is 75% off, at £25 (US$38.50); the Russell Hobbs Mode Red Kettle is £20 (US$30.80) with a 60% discount; and the Breville Stainless Steel 3-in-1 Hand Blender is 50% off, at £25 (US$38.50). With the Debenhams Beauty Club reward card, customers can collect £10 (US$15.40) worth of bonus points to be redeemed with a minimum purchase of £50 (US$77) worth of beauty and fragrance purchases until September 20.

Until September 1, Tesco was offering up to 50% off on big brands as part of its summer Bank Holiday Weekend Sale. Some of the top offers included the Dyson Multifloor Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner at 33% off (£199, US$306.40); the Canon PIXMA Wireless All-in-one Colour Inkjet Printer at half price (£32, US$49.30); and the Tefal Infiny Press Revolution Juicer at 65% off (£69, US$106.30). Tesco also discounted prices of selected fitness trackers by £30 (US$46.20). These included the Garmin Vivofit 2 Activity Tracker Wristband in Black, which was offered at £69 (US$106.30). Tesco is continuing its back-to-school promotion through the week.
