Week 14 - Reading and Phonics / Spellings
In this pack, there are different texts and questions for you to answer. There is a different text for each day.There is also a phonics / spelling session each day. Challenge yourself to use all the words in the spelling sessions in sentences, every day.
Remember, read the text carefully.

Monday
Challenge:Can you make your own tornado?
Follow these instructions to make your very own tornado.
Instructions:Fill a plastic bottle with water until it reaches around three quarters full.Add a few drops of dish washing liquid.Sprinkle in a few pinches of glitter (this will make your tornado easier to see).Put the cap on tightly.Swirl the bottle in a circular movement then watch your tornado appear.

Imagine you are in charge of organising the celebrations in the kingdom.
What are you going to do?
Make a list of –• the decorations that will be needed,• what food will be made,• what activities will you organise for people to do throughout the day,• how will everyone celebrate in the evening?

Here are a few pictures of Scott’s expedition to the South Pole. After reading the text can you draw a story map to show his journey? You can use the pictures to help you
Phonics / Spellings – ThursdayToday, we are learning to read and spell plural words that end in y by adding -es.
Can you find the correct plural word on the ball which matches the noun on the bat?
Challenge:When you have found all the correct spellings, write a sentence using each of those correct words.

Challenge:
Using the description in the text draw a picture to show Stowaway Stefan on the pirate ship. Remember to include everything –• the weather• the crane• the wooden crate – think about where it is• and don’t forget to include the ugly pirate peering down at him. Here are a few pictures to help you.
Phonics / Spellings – FridayToday, we are learning to read and spell verbs that end in y by adding -es.
Adding -es to a root verb changes it from 1st person to 3rd person, e.g. I carry, he carries.
