Dear  Parents  &  Caregivers,    

DOUBLE  PARKING  &  ROAD  SAFETY  As  I  have  mentioned  in  previous  newsletters,  it  is  important  that  we  all  follow  the  road  rules  and  exercise  EXTRA  care  when  picking  up  and  dropping  off  students  to  school.  Although  we  do  teach  an  effective  road  safety  program  to  our  students,  there  are  other  pedestrians  (younger  siblings  and  parents/carers)  that  we  must  protect.  In  recent  days,  it  has  been  reported  to  me  regarding  a  number  of  issues  relating  to  double  parking  and  unsafe  parking  practices.  PLEASE  –  for  the  safety  of  our  students  and  the  community  –  make  sure  that  you  follow  the  rules  of  the  road!  I  would  hate  to  have  the  situation  where  I  need  to  notify  the  community  of  a  student  or  community  member  who  has  been  injured  due  to  someone  not  exercising  care.  

ELECTRICAL  UPGRADE  Prestons  Public  School  will  commence  quite  a  substantial  electrical  upgrade  program  next  week.  The  program  will  take  approximately  3  months  to  complete  (depending  on  weather)  and  will  require  the  contractors  to  dig  up  sections  of  the  car  park  and  school  grounds,  in  order  to  lay  supply  cabling.  I  have  been  advised  that  there  should  be  minimal  disruption  to  school  routines,  as  any  work  that  will  require  the  shutting  off  of  electrical  supply  to  the  school  will  occur  outside  of  school  hours.  I  will  keep  you  informed  of  the  progress  of  this  project  as  it  commences/progresses.  

LOCAL  PARK  OPENING  Liverpool  council  have  advised  us  that  the  Opening  of  the  new  Browne’s  Farm  Reserve  will  occur  THIS  SATURDAY,  17th  November.  This  is  a  FREE  event,  where  members  of  the  community  can  enjoy  a  FREE  BARBEQUE  LUNCH,  children’s  activities,  face  painting,  a  jumping  castle,  giveaways  and  much  more.  The  opening  will  be  held  from  11am  –  1pm,  and  the  park  is  located  on  First  Avenue  Hoxton  Park.                              Mark  Greentree  Principal  

ATTENTION EVERYONE The  2012  School  Presentation  Day  will  be  held  on    Friday  7th  December  (Week  9)  in  the    School  Hall.  The  presentation  ceremony  will  begin    at   9:15am.   Come   and   join   us   to   celebrate   the  students’   academic,   sporting   and   creative  achievements.              Hope  to  see  you  all  there!  

 

 

The PRESTONS PS Talent Quest is coming….. Yes  folks..  it’s  that  time  of  the  year  again,  when  the  students  

 of  Prestons  PS  showcase  their  talent  at  the  Annual  Talent  Quest.  Come  along  and  watch  some  of  our  talented  young  performers  –  and  maybe  spot  a  ‘star  of  tomorrow’.  

Talent  quest  will  be  held  on  Monday  17th  December  (Wk  11)  –  so  mark  it  in  your  calendar.  

Prestons  Public  School  Choir  

Performing  at  the    K-­‐Mart  Wishing  Tree  

On  Wednesday  students  from  the  Prestons  Public  School  choir  helped  celebrate  the  opening  of  the  K-­‐Mart  wishing  tree.    Our  students  did  a  marvellous  job  singing  lots  of  wonderful  Christmas  Carols!!!

 A  reminder  to  parents  that  student  banking  is  

each  Wednesday.  Students  are  to  hand  their  bank  books  to  the  

office  each  morning.

Book  Club  –  Issue  8    Orders  are  due  back  to  the  office  by  the  30th  

November  2012.    No  late  orders  will  be  accepted  due  to  delivery  needing  to  be  prior  to  the  school  holidays.
