It’s good to receive all feedback. We have had some great feedback and positive comments and that is great. However, to better judge your opinions we need more surveys returned. A 100% response rate would be brilliant! Church gate closure tomorrow Construction is starting soon! Tomorrow, 3M demountable is being moved up the hill. A crane will be in from about 7am to move the building in sections. For this reason 1S, 2A & 3M will have to vacate their rooms for the morning session and we will have to keep the church gate shut all day for safety. Please enter the school via the Avoca Drive or Kimbarra Close gates on Friday— morning and afternoon. Easter Raffle & Red Day Yesterday, 3 March was P & C Day. This year’s theme was “Try a Little Kindness”. The Kincumber PS P & C works very hard to contribute to all children of the school. We have an incredible canteen and uniform shop and the contribution by volunteers has made this all possible. Please support the two current activities— the Easter raffle and the Canteen Red Day. As at 3/3/10 KM is leading the way in the Easter Raffle with 8 raffle books back, followed by 1S then KL. The prize is an egg each and a Toblerone and pizza voucher for the teacher. Twenty per cent of the books are back and they have raised $760, imagine if you dare if all of them came back!!!! New gates Last weekend our new gates to the infants playground were installed. We had this done to enable emergency access, including from ambulances, to the playground. We will not be preventing anyone from parking in front of the gates but please be mindful that if you park there and there is an emergency, you will be expected to move your vehicle. Access and parking will be very tight over the next few terms with all of the building work, so I urge all parents to please consider using the parking area at Frost Reserve and walking across at the pedestrian crossing. I realise wet weather often brings out some of our worst traffic behaviour when parents don’t want to get out of the car and want to pick children up at the front gate. This creates a bottleneck, increases danger to our students and increases blood pressure considerably. Please consider developing a wet weather plan for yourself and your children that might include raincoats, umbrellas and parking at Frost. Thank you for considering the safety of your children and others. Text Books, Mathletics and School Contributions Going home with today’s newsletter are reminder letters to those families who have not yet paid for their books from The Top Book Shop. Could you please arrange to make payment by the end of next week, to enable those children to receive their books. The Top Book Shop will be collecting the unpurchased books in Week 8. Stage 2 Excursion Years 3 and 4 and their teachers are excited to be off on an overnight visit to Sydney next week. I want to thank the teachers for their organisation. I wanted to offer some insight into why there are cut-off dates required for payment and information as I understand that some students will be disappointed to not be included. Travel companies require firm numbers to be able to roster staff and give them notice of work; accommodation venues often house other schools as well as ours and need to be able to order food, roster staff and identify room availability in advance for large numbers; teachers have to finalise risk assessments and work preparation; office staff have to process financial requirements including banking, depositing, placing orders, drawing cheques and preparing first aid equipment for attendees. All these activities cannot be done in the last few days. Not many people would organise a family holiday requiring travel and accommodation only a few days before departure—imagine organising a holiday for about 150 people. I thank you all for your understanding. P & C—Change of date for AGM Don’t forget the AGM has been changed to 29 March and we still need your help to ensure a viable and productive P & C. Many positions need to be filled and if more people shared the load we increase our achievements. Hope you had a great week at our great school! CLASS 1DL

LEARNING TO LEAD

On Friday, 26th February, twelve children from KPS went to a “Learning to Lead” program held at Kincumber High School. We did

many activities like AFL, Backyard League, Cricket, Golf and heaps more. They taught us many things like how to teach children, to

play proper games and have good sportsmanship. The children who went were Katie, Claudia, Shivonne, Jessie, Zoe, Gareth,

Jordan, Nick, Conor, Liam and Jamie. Everyone had a blast! Thanks to Mrs Griffiths for taking us. At the end, we all received a

mini football. by Claudia (3K) and Katie (3E)

Student Asthma Records

As we are currently updating our records for students with asthma, we will be sending home blue Student Asthma Record cards to all

students who are noted on our data base as having this medical condition. Please complete and return it to the front office as soon

as possible. If your child has asthma but you do not receive a card, please let us know. Thank you for helping us to keep your children

safe at school. Stars out of School A number of Kincumber students competed in the regional little athletics championships on the 27th and 28th February. These students are Tahlia Nugent, Georgia Lee, Daniel Titus, Ellie and Dylan Richardson and Bilal and Jamal Belkadi. All competed well and represented their clubs with pride. Dylan won a gold medal in the 700m walk and Georgia won a silver medal in the long jump. They will both compete in the State championship later this month. Good luck to you both!

Imagine how wonderful it would be if all the books came back in. If you would like another raffle book, they are now available at the school office. If anyone can spare a cane basket or two, I would really appreciate it being sent into the office. Thanks again.
