SMART, STRONG AND DEADLY WE AIM HIGH

Focus Rule:

Be safe: Keep hands

feet, objects and

opinions to yourself. SMART, STRONG AND DEADLY WE AIM HIGH

What an exciting week with our first Reward’s Day today. The children in the lower school had a lovely Teddy Bear’s picnic. The children in the upper school had fun team building activities. And in the afternoon the children ran in an amazing race.

Our school’s strategic plan promotes full day attendance as a key focus. Children need to attend full school days 87% of the time to be eligible for Reward’s Day. If your child has been sick more than 2 days, please provide a medical certificate. The other criteria, to be eligible for Reward’s Day, is to only have 1 or less major behaviours.

Please note that it is Department of Education policy that parents/carers sign in at the office whilst at school (other than morning drop off and afternoon pick up times). Parents/carers are not to enter the classroom during lessons because is disruptive to learning and the teacher’s focus needs to remain on teaching. If you need to speak with your child's teacher please make a time before or after school. If you need to speak with your child urgently, please go to the office and they will call the classroom and have them come and see you at the office.

I have good news to share! The Landcare grant that I applied for last year was successful. This means we have $5000 to spend on renewing the Cultural Gardens. There is some planning to do, mapping out the garden and then on the work to construct the garden. It would be great if parents/carers are able to pitch in also, when the garden is constructed. Mrs Scott also applied for a Gambling Grant. It will be announced in the coming months, if we are successful or not. This grant will be used to replace the old wooden playground near the Prep building.

The school policy regarding toys is that children should leave them at home. This is because toys create issues in classes and between children. Also, if the toy is lost or stolen, it is very distressing for the child. Occasionally an early years child may need a comfort toy. We do have school toys that can be used, however, if it is a special toy from home is needed, this will be considered. Please discuss this with your child’s teacher and together you will be able to plan an eventual replacement from school over time. The goal is to have children become resilient and inde-pendent while at school.

Cowboys Parade (Try for 5) is on this Monday, 2 March at 12.00pm in the library. Councillor , Maur ie Soars and State Member, Scott Stewart will also attend. We will have a special parade and announce our best at-tenders. These children will have special time with Matty Bowen.

The annual general meeting for the P & C is on 17 March. Please come along and support your P & C.

Kind regards, Kathy King Principal.

Be Safe:

Our new focus rule for the fortnight is “Keep hands, feet, objects and opinions to yourself”. We do not want anyone getting hurt! It is very important that the children understand empathy for others. If a chid cares about how children are feeling, they will not hurt them.

Words can really hurt! This is why we teach students to keep nasty opinions to themselves. If a child does hurt someone, we expect that they make restitution with an apology, but to also make sure that they do not hurt gain.
