    The St. Louis Rams make their second MonNight Football appearance of the season as ttravel to the Pacific Northwest to face the SeaSeahawks in a battle of divisional foes.

    Mondays game will mark the Rams 56th MonNight Football contest, and the Rams hol27-28 all-time record on Monday night. Their Monday Night Football appearance came lier this season when they played the New YGiants in Week 2.

    The Rams and Seahawks meet for the sectime in four games as Seattle won a 24-7 conat the Edward Jones Dome in Week 11. Seahawks hold a 16-10 advantage in the all-tseries.

    Steve Spagnuolo is in his third season as head coach of the St.Louis Rams. In 2010, Spagnuolos team made a six-game improve-ment from 2009, finishing in second place in the NFC West. Thesix-game swing marked the second best turnaround in the NFL from2009 to 2010. The Rams finished with a 5-3 home record, the firsthome winning record since 2004. In addition, the Rams improvedtheir team net turnover ratio from -13 in 2009 to +5 in 2010. TheRams forfeited only six fumbles, the second fewest in the NFL.

    Spagnuolos 2010 Rams made considerable improvements in allthree phases last season. Defensively, the Rams jumped 10 spotsn total defense in 2010. On the offensive side of the ball, the Ramsaveraged 7.2 points per game more in 2010 than in 2009, largely byplaying smart football that saw the team rank tied for eighth with 21

    turnovers last season.

    Spagnuolo came to the Rams after a stellar career as defensivecoordinator of the New York Giants and was the architect of thedefense that shut down the high-octane New England Patriots in theGiants stunning 17-14 win in Super Bowl XLII.

    Spagnuolo spent eight seasons (1999-2006) with the PhiladelphiaEagles, serving as defensive assistant/safeties from 1999-2000,defensive backs coach from 2001-03 and linebackers coachfrom 2004-06. From 1999-2005, the Eagles played in four NFCChampionship games and one Super Bowl.

    Spagnuolo coached for 18 years in the college ranks and in pro-fessional football in Europe before joining the Eagles. Spagnuolo

    served as defensive line/special teams coach with the BarcelonaDragons of the WLAF in 1992 and was defensive coordinator/line-backers coach for NFL Europes Frankfurt Galaxy in 1998.

    A wide receiver at Springfield (Mass.) College from 1978-81,Spagnuolo coached collegiately at Massachusetts (1982-93),Lafayette (1984-86), Connecticut (1987-91), Maine (1993-94),Rutgers (1994-95) and Bowling Green (1996-97). Spagnuolo alsoworked as a pro personnel intern for the Washington Redskins in1983 and as a scout with the San Diego Chargers in 1993.

    A native of Whitinsville, Mass., Spagnuolo is married to wife, Maria.

    In January of 2010, Pete Carroll became the eighth head coach Seahawks history after one of the most successful runs in USC htory in the college ranks. He led Seattle to an NFC West title in hfirst season with the Seahawks.

    Carroll returned to the NFL after spending the previous nine year(2001-09) as head coach at USC, where he won seven consecutPac-10 titles (2002-08), two national championships (2003-04) aled the Trojans to a 97-19 record.

    Carroll began his NFL career as defensive backs coach for Buffa(1984) and Minnesota (1985-89) before becoming the New YorkJets defensive coordinator (1990-93) and head coach (1994). Hespent two years as San Franciscos defensive coordinator (1995

    96), leading the league in total defense in 1995, before leading NEngland to a 27-21 record and two playoff appearances as headcoach (1997-99).

    Carroll spent the 2000 season as a consultant for pro and collegeteams, doing charitable work for the NFL and writing a column onpro football for CNNSI.com.

    Carroll began his coaching career at the college level, serving asgraduate assistant at his alma mater, Pacific, for three years (1976), working with the wide receivers and secondary. He then spea season as a graduate assistant working with the secondary atArkansas (1977) under Lou Holtz and then a season each as anassistant in charge of the secondary at Iowa State (1978) and atOhio State (1979). He next spent three seasons (1980-82) as the

    defensive coordinator and secondary coach at North Carolina Stbefore returning to Pacific in 1983 as the assistant head coach aoffensive coordinator.

    Carroll was a two-time (1971-72) All-Pacific Coast Conference frsafety at Pacific and earned his bachelors degree in 1973 in busness administration. He was inducted into the Pacific Athletic HaFame in 1995.

    He was a three-sport (football, basketball and baseball) standoutat Redwood High in Larkspur, Calif., earning the schools Athleteof the Year award as a senior. He was inducted into the inauguraRedwood High Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009. He then played fooball at Marin Junior College in Kentfield, Calif., from 1969-70 beftransferring to Pacific.

    Steven Jackson, who already ranks third in Rams history in scmage yards, has a chance to move into third place in all-purp

    yards when the Rams visit Seattle on Monday.

    Jackson currently ranks fourth in the category, but he needs jus

    Rams QB Sam Bradford, who missed last weeks game with an

    ankle injury, passed for 203 yards and a touchdown in his last out-

    ing.

    Bradford is among the NFLs best when it comes to protecting the

    football through the air. Hes thrown just five interceptions in 328

    attempts this season, and his rate of 1.5 ranks second in the NFL

    this season. Bradfords career rate of 2.18 (20 in 918 attempts) is

    Laurinaitis has proven to be a valuable defender against both the runand the pass. Last week, Laurinaitis recorded his third sack of theseason. He also has two interceptions and is tied for second amongRams with seven passes defensed on the year.

    Last year, Laurinaitis had seven passes defensed, one interceptionand 3.0 sacks. Among Rams, only starting cornerbacks Ron Bartell(13) and Bradley Fletcher (12) had more pass breakups.

    Laurinaitis rarely comes off the field, and hes played in a team-high837 snaps this season.

    MAN IN THE MIDDLE

    Linebacker James Laurinaitis once again finds himself atop the Rams list of leading tacklers.

    The Rams used the 14th overall pick in lastyears draft on a young pass rusher who theyhoped would help them get after the quarter-back, and DE Robert Quinn has shown whyhe was highly coveted in April.

    Two weeks ago against Arizona, Quinnrecorded his fifth sack of the season andsecond in as many weeks.

    In Week 8, Quinn blocked a punt that led toa Rams touchdown and sacked Drew Brees.Quinn was named NFC Special TeamsPlayer of the Week for his efforts against the Saints.

    In his 12th NFL season, DE James Hall continues to be a rock for

    the Rams defense. Hes tied for second among Rams with 5.0

    sacks this season, and he has 42 tackles, including three for loss,

    and 10 quarterback hits on the year. In Week 11, he blocked a

    potential game-winning field goal to help the Rams pull out a victory

    in Cleveland.

    In 2010, Hall led St. Louis with 10.5 sacks on the year and also

    recorded 57 tackles, including two for loss. Hall also led the Rams

    and tied for second in the NFL with six forced fumbles last season.

    Hall now has 62.0 career sacks. Among active players, Hall ranks

    16th in career sacks. His 10.5 sacks last year was his second-highest

    single season total of his career (11.5 in 2004). He finished last sea-

    son ranked ninth in the NFC in sacks.

    A HAL L OF A PLAYER

    DE James Hall had 10.5 sacks in 2010, which was his second-best season total of his 11-yearcareer. He has 5.0 this season and leads all Rams defensive linemen in tackles.

    Rams DT Fred Robbins was one of the more unheralded signingthe 2010 free agency period, but his impact has certainly been fe

    the middle of the St. Louis defense.

    Last week against the 49ers, Robbins had two tackles and Co

    Steve Spagnuolo said Robbins was largely responsible for pusthe pocket to help Chris Long come away with a sack. On the s

    son, Robbins is tied for second among Rams with four tacklesloss and he has 23 total stops.

    In his first season in St. Louis, Robbins set a new career high

    6.0 sacks and had a big impact on the Rams defense. In additio

    rushing the passer, he helped keep blockers off of James Laurina

    Robbins came to the Rams after six seasons with the New YGiants. During two of those seasons, Steve Spagnuolo was

    Giants defensive coordinator. Its no coincidence that those

    campaigns were perhaps the best of Robbins career as he tiedprevious career high in sacks (5.5) in each of those seasons and

    a Pro Bowl alternate in 2008. He played a key role in New Yorksto their Super Bowl XLII championship.

    Rams DT Fred Robbins drops Seattle RB Justin Forsett for a loss. After joining St. Louis as a fre

    agent last spring, Robbins made a big impact on a much-improved Rams defense in 2010.

    Prior to Week 7, the Rams made amove to upgrade their receiver corpsas they sent an undisclosed draft pickto the Denver Broncos in exchange forWR Brandon Lloyd.

    The move has paid immediate divi-dends. Lloyd caught six passes for 74yards in his St. Louis debut againstDallas, and hes totaled 32 receptionsfor 430 yards and four touchdownssince joining the Rams.

    A nine-year veteran, Lloyd is reunitedwith Rams Offensive Coordinator JoshMcDaniels, under whom he had a breakout season in 2010.

    While playing in McDaniels offense, Lloyd posted career highreceptions (77), receiving yards (1,448) and touchdown catches (He led the NFL in receiving yards last season as he was namehis first Pro Bowl of his career.

    This season, Lloyd has caught 51 passes for 713 yards in four gamwith the Broncos and seven in St. Louis. Since joining the Ramshas 31 receptions for 396 yards and has at least four catches in

    six games as a Ram.

    Lloyds career totals include 292 receptions for 4,533 yards andtouchdowns.

    Darian Stewart entered the starting

    and has become a playmaker for

    three passes last week against the 49ers to give him 22 receptions for

    211 yards this season.

    When Pettis arrived in St. Louis, he was given jersey number 83. Early

    in the season, Pettis switched to 18 in order to honor a family mem-

    ber who was also a professional athlete in St. Louis. Del Rice, Pettis

    grandfather, wore 18 when he played catcher for the St. Louis baseball

    Cardinals (1945-55, 60). Pettis uncle Gary Pettis also enjoyed a long

    Thanksgiving with his family in Arizona two

    weeks ago when he got a call to head to St.

    Louis to join the Rams, and Miller made a

    big impact just a few days later in his Rams

    In the first quarter of the Rams Week 12

    game against the Cardinals, Miller returned

    a punt 88 yards for a touchdown. The score

    was Millers first of his career and is tied

    for the third-longest punt return in Ramshistory. It was the first punt returned for a

    touchdown by a Ram since Dante Hall did

    so in 2007.

    Miller, who spent parts of three seasons with the Oakland Raiders,

    was on the Rams roster for two weeks earlier this season but didnt

    appear in a game with St. Louis until Week 12.
