And what a great start to the week we have had. Yesterday St Johns won the Interschools Athletics Shield for the 7 th year in a row. However it was a fierce contest for first place. With only a few track events to go our nearest competitors, Sacred Heart, Highgate, were a mere 6 points behind us. Quite a nail biting scenario for St Johns spectators as we cheered our outstanding athletes onwards. St Johns was also awarded The Boys Trophy this year. Several records were broken by St Johns students too. All our students contributed immensely to the result through their unstinting efforts, good sportsmanship and willingness to attend training sessions, so congratulations and thank you to all of you. Mention should be made of the grit, energy and team spirit of several of our students who ran in their own age group events then doubled up for the year level above them to fill a void. Special thanks to Mrs Washer for her training and organisation of the team and our parents for all your support at training and as spectators! Yesterday also saw the presentation of STEM projects, undertaken by our Year 1, 2 and 3 students, on display at the STEM Learning Conference held at the Crown. Our school was invited to be one of a few CEWA schools showcasing the process of developing a Whole School Approach to facilitating STEM learning experiences, as per our Annual School Improvement Plan: Focus 2. The process and philosophy behind this is on display in the School Administration Block, so have a read some time when you are in the office. Open Night will be held this Wednesday, the 19 th of September. Pop in and check out the art work and classrooms. Our school mass will be on at 9am on Wednesday followed by a morning tea in the school hall for any parents and parishioners who are able to attend. The week will culminate with a Whole School Assembly on Friday morning where each class will present snippets of history across the decades within the past 70 years. Thank you to Rosalba and Dario Bottega for the creation of the banner outlining the history of our school. It is currently hanging on the wall to the west of the Hall in the Undercover Area. Happy holidays to all. Regards Mary Bizzaca Principal Dear Jesus and St John the Evangelist, please guide us in helping others...

Interschool Athletics Congratulations to all Interschool Athletes on your amazing achievement at the Carnival yesterday. So many of our runners had to run in races in the year or division above their programmed events. The sportsmanship of all of our team was outstanding as I saw so many examples of shaking hands, congratulating and encouraging other school competitors.

Thank you to all who assisted with training, especially Nikki Samuels for her Relay expertise and parents who manned stations or walked children to school.
