Responsibilities: Fashion Stylist 

✤ Scout locations and create the mood for a shoot by selectingappropriate props, fashions, accessories and even models tofit the theme of the shoot.

Work with teams of people such as photographers, designers,lighting technicians, and set builders.

✤ Borrow, lease, or purchase garments and props and thenarrange to transport the selections to the studio or location to

determine which combinations look best.

✤ Works with hair and makeup personnel and dress the peoplefeatured in the shoot, adjusting the fit of apparel andaccessories as needed.

Challenges: Fashion Stylist 

✤ May find this career filled with irregular work, long hours,limited budgets and clients with conflicting personal tastes.

It can be difficult to work for a number of bosses, from theclient to the photographer or film director.

✤ often freelance and does not offer job security.

✤ Strong competition with minimal job openings.

✤ Should also avoid allowing their ego and tastes to interferewith a director’s vision or a client’s image.

✤ Find an existing sketch or rough draft of a garment design, orfind an existing photo of an actual garment. Photo should besimple, unglamorous and may be unappealing.

✤ Using the sketch or photo as reference, create a FASHIONILLUSTRATION that will enhance the visual appeal of thatdesign. You may use any media you like.

✤ FORMAT: 1/8 Illustration board in size. (1st Page) Includeprinted photo/sketch of your reference. (2nd Page) Illustrationshould be fully rendered.

C. Fashion Styling Challenge

Done by pair or by group, but output should be individual. You maystyle yourself, or a fellow student in our INTROFD class.

✤ Using your existing wardrobe as a source of materials, create a newSTYLE based on an experimental theme of interest.

Select main pieces you wish to use, take a picture per item (catalogtype). Mix and match the pieces and take a photo of yourself (or your block mate) conveying the theme/concept you wish to produce. Useaccessories, make up, props, sceneries, lighting effects, computeraided enhancements etc. necessary to produce the style/mood you

want.✤ FORMAT: 1/8 Illustration board in size. (1st Page) Clean layout of all

the pieces used with a 1 paragraph write up about the theme/conceptyou used for the styling challenge. (2nd Page) 1 Clear Photo of yourstyling.

D. Design your own Window Display 

Select an existing fashion brand you’d like to design a window for.✤ Research on their company profile, design style etc.

✤ Select a season typically used in the Manila setting that usuallyrequires an attractive window display. (i.e. Christmas, Valentines,

Sale, Halloween, etc.)✤ Create a clean sketch of the window display you’d like to create,

including a 1 paragraph description of your vision. Include allfootnotes necessary of the items included in the plan.

✤ FORMAT: 1/8 Illustration board in size. (1st Page) 1 Paragraphdescription of your vision and selected season together with a brief company profile of the brand you want to design for. (2nd Page) Asketch/plan for window display with labeled items.

✤ Corresponding deductions will apply for incomplete projects.
