Weed Science Research

• 1.6 Total EFT to research• Since 1999, the Weed Science group has published 94

refereed journal articles, 8 book chapters, 259 published abstracts

• Funding: $2.5 million since 1999 • Impact: • Research that has lead to critical use exemptions ~$100

million/year and other herbicide registrations have had an economic impact of ~$1.5 million per year

• Tropical spiderwort has been most troublesome weed in cotton since 2001 with impact of ~$5.6 million per year in increased control costs

• Glyphosate-resistant Palmer amaranth has the potential to have an economic impact of $20 million per year in cotton alone
