NDOT PREPARED FOR NEXT ROUND OF WEATHER This Thanksgiving holiday weekend, the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) crews are prepared for the latest round of winter weather, which would impact most of the state and good portions of the country. While the forecast could fluctuate, con- cerns are highest with heavy snowfall coupled with high winds cre- ating low visibility. Workers and equipment will be out to clear the highways and monitor changing conditions throughout the holi- day weekend, which looks to affect travel Tuesday through Wednesday and again on Thanksgiving Day and through the weekend. “This latest wave of storms looks to have significant im- pact on a majority of the state,” said NDOT Director Kyle Schneweis. “This is the first major storm of the season and it is an- ticipated to be a significant one during one of the highest travel times of the year. Drivers are encouraged to be informed about weather and road conditions before making the decision to travel. We urge caution if you must travel during this winter storm and know before you go.” Travelers are advised to be alert, be aware and check the most up to date travel conditions available through 511, Nebraska’s Advanced Traveler Information System. The system is available at all times via phone by, online at dot.nebraska.gov, Nebraska 511’s smartphone app or by dialing 511. MCC DECEMBER EVENTS The McCook Community College Theater, Music and Art Depart- ments all have upcoming events in early December, and the al- ways-popular “Santa’s Workshop” happens next week as well. The MCC Theatre Department will perform “A Welsh Christmas Remembered” Dec. 6-8 in the Weeth Theater in Tipton Hall on the MCC campus. This devised production based on Dylan Thomas’ beloved classic, is set for Dec. 6 and 7 at 7 p.m. and a Sunday matinee Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. This is a holiday reflection is best en- joyed by audience members age 13 and older. The performance runs about 90 minutes and is presented without intermission. A mix of movement, music, poetry and improvisation, it all blends to- gether into a dreamlike reflection of Christmas in a small sea- town in Wales. Tickets go on sale Dec. 1 and can only be pur- chased in advance online through MCC’s partner, Cutlass Artists on their website www.cutlassartists.com . The MCC Music Depart- ment’s “Winterfest” is set for Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Weeth Thea- ter in Tipton Hall. This year’s theme is “Home.” The concert is free and will include performances from the MCC Concert Choir and the children’s choir. SPORTS Dachon Burke Jr. had 14 points to pace four Huskers in

66 In the semifinals of the Cayman Islands Classic Tues-

day evening. George Mason (7-1) shot 60 percent in the

second half, including 7-of-12 from 3-point range, to pull

away from the Huskers down the stretch. With the win,

George Mason advanced to Wednesday’s title game

against New Mexico State, while the Huskers (3-3) saw

their three-game win streak snapped and will play in the

The second-ranked Nebraska-Kearney volleyball team is

in the NCAA Tournament for a 21st straight season and

will battle the Oklahoma Baptist University Bison in the

first round of the Central Regional on Thursday, Decem-

ber 5, at the Health & Sports Center. The 64-team NCAA

Tournament field, eight schools from each of Division II’s

eight regions, was announced tonight. The complete

UNK has hosted an NCAA Regional (1995, 2004, 2005,
