The club women of Jackson are making preparations for the Second District Federation of Women’s Clubs annual convention, which will be held in that city on June 13, 14 and 15. Mrs. R. P. Dodds of Lake Crystal, district president, will preside. State President Mrs. Willard Bayliss of Chisholm will be a guest of honor during the convention. She will de- liver an address, as will other speak- ers of note. The annual choral con- test will be a fetature of the conven- tion. Mrs. A. B. Wilson Championship Tennis Balls, 50 cents at Sward-Kemp Drug Co. 45-lt The funeral of Carl C. Petersen, whose widow was formerly Georgine Adams of Morgan, took place last Saturday at Belview. The body was brought from the home at Denver, Colo., to this county for burial. Fu- neral services were held at the Nor- wegian Lutheran church at Belview, 1 the pastor, Rev. E. A. Fretheim, preaching the sermon. The rites were military in charge of the Aug- ust Donner Post of the American Le- gion of Belview. Interment was made at Redwood Falls. Deceased was bom in Denmark March 1, 1893, mak- ing him thirty-five years old. He came to America with his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. August Freder- icksen of Delhi in 1907 and made his home with them. He entered the service and was in France. On June 12, 1925, he married Georgine Adams, who survives him. They went to Den- ver after a honeymoon trip to Den- mark and resided there until Mr. Pet- ersen’s death on May Ist. The Missionary Society of the Pres- byterian church will meet this after- noon (Wednesday) at the home of Mrs. A. H. Vihstadt. Each member is asked to bring a guest for the after- noon. Miss Gladys Raverty of Buffalo Lake, and Miss Hadlick’s mother, Mrs. Hadlick of Blue Earth and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Hadlick of Minneapolis. A pretty afternoon party at the home of Mrs. J. B. Philbrick Tues- day afternoon marked the close of the 1 club year for the Twentieth Century {Club of Redwood Falls. The Wo- | man’s Club of Morgan and a few oth- -1 ers were the guests of honor. The 1 opera, “The King’s Henchman” was | the main feature of the afternoon’s program. Mrs. T. E. Flinn opened the program by telling something of the lives of Edna Vincent Millay and Deens Taylor. Miss Millay wrote the words of the opera and Mr. Taylor composed the music. Miss Marie Tolzman reviewed the opera and gave 1 the setting of each act and a chorus : composed of Mrs. M. Treu, Mrs. C. A. Hillig, Mrs. S. B. Duea and Miss Arlys Denzel sang. Miss Avis Kvello played the accompaniment and also sang. At the close Miss Denzel sang a solo from Tannhauser. Dur- ing the social hour, Mrs. J. A. Stens- -1 val, chairman of the social committee, assisted by Mmes. J. B. Philbrick, Wm. Smith and Joe Corbett served ¦ tea and cake. Apple blossoms were | used attractively in the living roomß j of the Philbrick home and roses were . used as table decorations in the din- ing room. Mankato will be hostess to several hundred women, when the annual State Federation of Women’s clubs convene there on September 19, 20, and 21. Mrs. George Sugden, general chairman of the executive committee, has called the committee together for general discussion as to ways and means for financing the project. On May 18 a benefit movie will be stag- ed at one of the Mankato theatres and a high-class production will be shown, the proceeds of which will be used to defray the expenses incurred during the state convention. Many local club women will attend the ses- sions of the state meeting. The body of Mrs. Laura Bergeson that has been in a receiving vault in Minneapolis since her death January Ist, 1928, was brought to Sanborn Wednesday of last week, May 2nd, for interment, which service took place the afternoon of that day, and was in the city cemetery. There were no services at the church, and the ser- vice at the grave was conducted by Rev. Bruns of Sanborn. Mrs. C. F. Schwieger, Mrs. A. R. Furch, Mrs. George Gowin, Mrs. L. L. Blackmun, Mrs. F. M. Robinson, Mrs. Ora Traut- man, Mrs. C. B. Armstrong and Mrs. J. Erickson were present at the ser- vice. Also Dr. F. M. Robinson, C. F. Schwieger and Ora Trautman. The riteswere military in charge of the Aug-ust Donner Post of the American Le-gion of Belview. Interment was madeat Redwood Falls. Deceased wasbom in Denmark March 1, 1893, mak-ing him thirty-five years old. Hecame to America with his aunt anduncle, Mr. and Mrs. August Freder-icksen of Delhi in 1907 and made hishome with them. He entered theservice and was in France. On June12, 1925, he married Georgine Adams,who survives him. They went to Den-ver after a honeymoon trip to Den-mark and resided there until Mr. Pet-ersen’s death on May Ist. He was a !

The body of Mrs. Laura Bergesonthat has been in a receiving vault inMinneapolis since her death JanuaryIst, 1928, was brought to SanbornWednesday of last week, May 2nd,for interment, which service tookplace the afternoon of that day, andwas in the city cemetery.
