CHAPLAIN

What an amazing cake stall we had last Thursday! Sincere thanks to the wonderful group of girls and

their families for organising the delicious treats. Your generosity raised $221.95 which will be a great

help to those caught in poverty. Our MPPS 5 Cents Challenge continues to support education

projects around the world... helping to fight poverty by opening doors of opportunity and

transforming lives. Hero Award

For many years now, our school has had a program running where members of the community give

their time to mentor our students. One of those faithful mentors is Mrs Piera Cole. Mrs Cole's

children attended MPPS over 15 years ago, so we are very grateful to Piera for continuing to be a part

of our school community. Below are some words from the Hero Award we presented to Mrs Cole at

the assembly on Friday. "We greatly appreciate the 4 years you have volunteered your time to support our students in the

role of a mentor. Over the years you have invested into their life, encouraging them to reach their

potential both academically and in their personal character. Your genuine care has a lasting legacy.

Thank you for making a wonderful difference at Mount Pleasant Primary School."

PATIENCE Patience means waiting and trusting that everything will be alright. It is being calm and tolerant even in difficult situations. It means having self-control. Patience is sticking with something until you get the results you want. It is like planting seeds in a vegetable garden then tending to them and waiting for the results. Patience is a commitment to the future. Patient people do things now that will help them in the future. They trust that their goals are worth the hard work and are prepared to wait for the results. When people are impatient they usually act in a frustrated or irritable way. Sometimes they are not very nice to be around. You practise patience by not trying to control things or other people. If someone makes a mistake, be gentle with them. When things become difficult for you, persevere until you achieve the result you desire. Set goals for yourself and know that the future is worth waiting for.

LIBRARY

Hello from the Library! I am looking for some help in the library, namely to cover books and do shelving. If you drop off and/or

pick up your child from school, why not pop in early and make your way to our progressively changing

library. I will be happy to guide anyone who is interested in helping out in our lovely school. Please call

in and say hello.

The Gift of Working Together Our item demonstrated how gender roles in play have changed throughout history and how working together we can achieve more. As the boys and girls slowly discover the gift or working together they realised they can achieve their desired goal. “Such a well thought out storyline. I loved seeing you smile from start to finish. Your creative staging and choreography was impressive. You took direction very constructively and didn't allow your costumes to detract from your beautiful faces. You should be very proud Mount Pleasant Primary.”

SCIENCE NEWS

SCIENCE WEEK Science has been a huge success with our whole school engaging in ‘Be a Bush Scientist’ and ‘Be an

Environmental Engineer’ programmes. Our celebrations included: a visit from Professor Kingsley

Dixon, Professor Don Bradshaw and Felicity Bradshaw, an article in the Melville Community News and

excellent learning experiences across all years. This celebration also included an invitation for all students to visit https://www.scienceweek.net.au/wa/ online and engage in further science events and

competitions. We would like to congratulate Beau Miles, from Room 12 who entered the Frontiers

of Science Logo Competition and won the Year 1 division. There were over 560 entries in this

division. His entry was outstanding and he was presented his award at the Canning River Eco

Education Centre.
