Principal’s News Band Camp On the weekend, PPS hosted its annual Band Camp at school over 2 days. The Instrumental Music Program includes 175 students over 4 bands and 2 string ensembles. It was a huge weekend of music, with the children participating in rehearsals and music tuition as well as a concert at the end. The children had a great time and behaved beautifully throughout the camp. Our band coordinator, Zannie Abbott, the band parents, conductors, teacher helpers and Mrs Herbert did an amazing job to coordinate and run the camp over the 2 days. They all worked extremely hard to provide this wonderful experience/opportunity to our band students. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to making the band camp a huge success. Wahroonga Music Festival Last Sunday morning our Junior and Concert Bands took time out from their band camp to perform at the Wahroonga Music Festival. The children in both bands performed beautifully and competed well. Our Junior Band placed first in their division, which was a fantastic achievement. Congratulations to both bands on their performances at the Wahroonga Music Festival. Year 6 Excursion On Tuesday, as part of their History and Geography unit on cultural diversity, our Year 6 students visited a Chinese restaurant China Town for lunch and had ‘yum cha’. The food was delicious and quite diverse for some children. All the students enjoyed the lunch and had an authentic learning experience. I’d like to thank the Year 6 teachers of coordinating this excursion. 2W Class Assembly Item At last Friday’s K-2 Assembly, 2W presented their class assembly item based on their Australiana unit of work. The students presented information on our States and Territories as well as an entertaining poem. The children then finished by presenting a dramatised performance of ‘Waltzing Matilda’. The students performed magnificently and impressed with their singing and acting. It was obvious that the children had a great time performing their assembly item which was extremely entertaining. I’d like to thank Mrs Wiblin and Mr Long for all their hard work in preparing the children for their assembly item.

Visitors Please note that during school hours all visitors to the school, including parents, must attend the School Office and sign into the Visitor’s Book. This includes parent helpers who are scheduled to assist on a class. These requirements are in place to ensure the safety and secuirty of our students. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.
