National Apprenticeship Service
• Renaissance in Apprenticeship Training:– 500,000 Apprenticeship starts in 2010/11 AY– Largely confined to craft and technician level job roles at Levels 2 and 3
• Participation:– 3,500 Higher Apprenticeship starts in 2010/11 AY
• Equivalent to Degree levels at:– Level 4 = Higher Education Certificate– Level 5 = Foundation Degree level– Level 6 = Bachelor’s degree level– Level 7 = Master’s degree level
• Higher Apprenticeships respond to employers’ higher level skills needs:– Support business growth– Meet individuals’ career aspirations– Enhance opportunities for social mobility
