Winners are announced in second annual show The 2011 Kentucky Music Teachers Association held their annual state conference and competitions recently on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University. Madeline and Caroline Peterson qualified with superior ratings and spent three days in piano recitals and competitions. They were also members of the All-State Keyboard Ensemble, which performed during the clos- ing ceremonies of the con- ference. The ensemble was made up of 22 pianists from around the state each playing 22 individual pianos concur- rently in concert. The closing concert was conducted by Dr. Susan Ogilvy of Texas. The regional qualifying competitions for the 2012 KMTA Conference were held recently at Campbellsville University. Both Madeline and Caroline were par- ticipants and again earned superior ratings which is the highest rating and qualifies them for the 2012 KMTA state competitions to be held on the campus of Northern Kentucky University. KMTA is an affiliate of the National Music Teachers Association. Madeline and Caroline have qualified with superior rat- ings for this honor eight con- secutive years. Madeline is a junior and Caroline a freshman at Marion County High School. They are piano students of Suellen Shaw and are the daughters of Doug and Kristi Peterson.
