Weddings 2018

elcomeThe Ford Plantation is one of the nation’s premier residential communities and private sporting clubs, sensitively developed on 1,800 breathtaking acres of pristine Georgia Low Country. Located on the site of a former antebellum rice plantation, the majestic waterfront location once captivated the imagination of automobile magnate Henry Ford, who built a historic winter retreat on this lush property in the 1930s.

This extraordinary natural environment offers the perfect setting for your destination wedding—an opportunity to enjoy your special day in rare privacy and beauty. The Ford Plantation is able to accommodate weddings for up to 250 people.

W

nparalled mbianceThe Main House was automobile magnate Henry Ford’s historic winter estate. This wonderful home, a true archi-tectural treasure listed on the National Register of Historic Places, sits atop a bluff overlooking the Ogeechee River and serves as the heart and soul of The Ford Plantation. It provides a formal, elegant atmosphere for outdoor wedding ceremonies and tented receptions. The Lake Dye Grill, the vintage Oyster House, or the Ogeechee Outfitters marina facility are suitable for relaxed rehearsal dinners and family celebrations.

Reservations for all amenities must be received at least two weeks in advance and are based on availability.

The Ford Plantation Golf CourseThe Ford Plantation features a premier Pete Dye-designed championship course with two distinctive nine-hole challenges: the front nine is designed around 250 acres of freshwater lakes, and the back nine resembles a great Scottish links-type course, with holes placed among the Plantation’s original rice fields. Mr. Dye calls his Ford course “arguably my finest southern design.” The course was recently named one of Golfweek’s Top 100 Best Residential Courses 2016 and one of Golf Digest’s and Golf Magazine’s “Best New Golf Courses in America”).

Fishing and the Great OutdoorsFrom bluegill to blue marlin, Ford offers some of the best fishing in the Low Country. The plantation is situated on a tidal stretch of the Ogeechee River with endless creeks and tributaries that are home to largemouth and striped bass. Down the river, pristine salt marshes are lined with oyster beds—and teeming with redfish, sea trout, and even tarpon. Offshore, the Georgia coast offers some of the most productive waters along the Atlantic. Tarpon appear in our waters in late June and can be caught through early September. Ford offers hiking and biking on more than 16 miles of scenic trails and kayaking on protected waterways.
