Music

As part of the wedding service fee, IPC has gifted accompanists who are available to provide music for your wedding. They are not only able to perform, but to also make suggestions for the musical selections. The couple should contact the accompanist no later than one month prior to the wedding. Contact information for the accompanist is available from the wedding director.

Musical instruments and soloists: If you wish to have other musicians participate in the wedding, this can be arranged. Additional fees may apply.

Church Decorations

Florists may arrive two hours prior to the wedding. It is the wedding party’s responsibility to inform the florist of the time allotment.

Flower girls my scatter silk flower petals only. Liturgical decorations used during seasons of the church year (such as Advent, Christmas, and Easter) will remain in place during weddings.

Photography and Videography

No flash photography is allowed during the ceremony. In addition, we ask that photographers refrain from taking pictures in full view of the congregation in order to preserve the reverence of worship during the ceremony; timed exposures from the back of the sanctuary are recommended.

Videography is permitted with stationary cameras during the ceremony.

Multimedia Presentations

If you are interested in including a multimedia presentation, such as a short video or slideshow as part of your ceremony, please inquire with the wedding director. Additional fees may apply. 

Seating Capacity

The total seating capacity of the sanctuary is 550: 380 on the main floor, and 170 in the balcony.

Keeping the Grounds Clean

No rice, confetti, or birdseed should be thrown on church property.

Smoking or the consumption of alcoholic beverages is not permitted on any part of the church property.

couples will meet with the wedding director approximately eight weeks prior to the wedding to finalize the details.

Wedding Coordinator’s Role

Two wedding coordinators will be present for the rehearsal and the wedding. The wedding coordinators will conduct the rehearsal and oversee the arrangements for the service.

Wedding Consultants

We understand that some couples retain the services of a professional wedding consultant. While the wedding consultant is welcome to attend the rehearsal and wedding, they should not interfere with the responsibilities of the wedding coordinators.

Rehearsal

The rehearsal is generally held on the Friday preceding the day of the wedding at either 5 pm or 6 pm. It is important that all members of the wedding party be prompt for the convenience of all concerned. Guest pastors are to be present at the rehearsal.

Wedding Schedule

The wedding party should arrive at the church a minimum of one hour (and a maximum of two hours) in advance of the ceremony. The sanctuary must be completely cleared 1 1/2 hours after the beginning of the ceremony.

For example, if your wedding starts at 2 pm, you have the facility until 3:30 pm.

Wedding GuidelinesBefore a date may be requested, the wedding couple must read our Wedding Guidelines and agree to abide by them. The Wedding Guidelines Acknowledgement Form is to be signed by the bride and groom and sent to the events coordinator with the requested wedding date.

Once the date has been approved, the couple will receive the Wedding Registration and Agreement (and Visiting Pastor Form if an IPC pastor is not performing the service). The forms must be returned with a $200 non-refundable deposit and a $300 security deposit within two weeks of receiving them.

If an IPC pastor is requested to perform the wedding ceremony, our events coordinator will work with the pastor with regard to the availability of the date requested.

Wedding Service Fee

The fee for guest weddings is $1,500. Members of IPC should contact the church office for fee information. Final payment must be paid no later than eight weeks prior to the wedding date.

Wedding Director’s Role

The IPC wedding director assists the wedding party to ensure the logistical arrangements for the service are arranged in advance of the wedding date. The wedding director is available to answer any questions or concerns you may have about your wedding (email is best), and

Because marriage between a man and a woman is a wonderful and special gift from God, Irvine Presbyterian Church takes seriously our responsibility to help couples prepare, not only for a beautiful wedding, but also for a healthy marriage that lasts a lifetime.

Weddings at Irvine Presbyterian Church are for those who meet one of the following criteria:

1. IPC congregants and their families.

2. Those who are active in another Christian church who, for extenuating reasons, need a facility more adequate than their church provides, and are willing to work within our guidelines. Guest pastors are permitted to perform weddings upon approval by our head pastor.

Even when these requirements are met, the pastoral staff assumes responsibility to exercise judgment in determining whom of these couples we cannot, in good conscience, marry.
