The chapel at 14th century Salmestone Grange was the enchanting venue for the wedding ceremony of secondary school teachers Sara Riley and

Greg Richardson.Sara, 27, who teaches maths and Greg, 32, who teaches RE and philosophy, were so inspired by the unique and intimate chapel and the beautiful gardens in Margate, they didn’t even consider any other venue for the ceremony.And with the August wedding and their Ramsgate home all so close to the seaside, the couple used the theme of golden sands and blue skies throughout the day.Sara, who was helped by four bridesmaids and a maid of honour, bought her romantic tea-length dress, the Isadora Ann, by Maggie Sottero, from Attractions Bridal Studio in Herne Bay. Her luxury shoes were a gift from her mum, Kim Marsden. Her trademark bright red hair colour was freshened up for the day by Sian Hair and Beauty, King Street, Ramsgate and she did her own make-up, with help from her bridesmaids.She recalls: “I didn’t have a great time dress shopping. I knew I wanted a short dress and really struggled to find one I liked. The day I got it I had been really upset in a different shop, when Attractions called to say a dress had come in that I might be interested in. When I walked in I saw my dress and knew it was the one.“My shoes are the Sakura from Harriet Wilde. I saw them in a wedding magazine

Real weddings

Blue skies and white flowers were

the backdrop when 33-year-old

Beckie Stewart finally wed the

man she first met in a Maidstone

sandwich shop.

Peckish in her break from work at Tinson

Opticians, Middle Row, one summer day in

2005, Beckie had popped over to the Lunch

Basket on Bank Street.

But she got much more than a cheese and

tomato bap when she found herself in the

queue behind Andy Holden, 34, who was

taking his lunch break too, from Maidstone

fashion store Zee & Co.

The pair got talking and after an unusual

first date just days later – at the crazy golf

on Hastings sea front – have never

looked back.

Eight years after their sandwich-shop

encounter, they finally took their wedding

vows in front of 50 friends and family

members at idyllic period farm venue,

Frasers, at Coldharbour Farm, Egerton,

near Ashford.

After torrential rains the previous day,

Beckie was relieved to see the skies clear

and got ready for her big day at the

venue’s stunning Blenheim bridal suite

with custom-made four-poster bed and

large round bath set in the centre of the

bathroom.

An adjoining suite was also made available

for the party to have their hair and

make-up done professionally.

As Beckie and her bridesmaids arrived for

the wedding ceremony, Here Come the

Girls, by Ernie K-Doe was played, followed

by Life’s a Happy Song, from The Muppets,

as Beckie walked down the aisle.

Her dad, Dave, gave her away in a

ceremony with readings and poems

selected by the couple.

Heart motifs and the colours pink and

white were the subtle palette for the tables,

and the happy couple headed out into the

fields to pose for the camera under blue

August skies with fluffy white clouds.

Later, 50 more guests arrived for the

evening reception, where the couple chose

Jack Johnson’s Better Together for their

first dance.

The couple, who live in Bearsted, both still

work at the same places, Beckie as assistant

manager and Andy as manager.

Beckie said they had a budget for the

wedding and were pleased to say they had

managed to stick to it.

They waited a couple of months before

heading to sunny Mexico for their

honeymoon.

including: an exclusive Cedar Suite with a fully licensed bar and dance

As a working team we offer a wide variety of menus from which you can
