E.g Do you have an in-house technology go-to person (IT admin)
Will you need support and is it readily available from the software or consultants?
What’s your budget? How will you build it in? E.g charge

MicroLearning
Part 2
● It is a form of training/lesson delivered in purposefully small units
● No official time limitation, but on average, content should last between 3 - 6 minutes
● It is more engaging, as content is easier to digest which results in higher knowledge retention among learners
● Microlearning content are easier and quicker to produce
What is Microlearning?
The forgetting curve:
● Theory was propounded by German psychologist Hermann Ebbinghaus
● Information retention reduces exponentially after a couple of days
● Learners will forget an average of 90% of what they have learned within the first month
● People recall stronger memories for a longer period than a weaker ones
● Information is easier to recall when it’s built upon things you already know

The neural pathway becomes stronger whenever we revisit the information
This ultimately helps knowledge stick over time
When we learn something new, a neural pathway is created in the brain
The neural pathway becomes stronger whenever we revisit the information
Neural Pathways
Spaced Learning and Long Term Memory
● Spaced learning is a learning method where highly compact content is taught and then repeated over measured intervals
● When knowledge is reinforced, learners develop long term memories in the hippocampus
● Microlearning is a perfect tool for creating long term memories as reinforcement is achieved quickly
The Science of Microlearning?
Develop the Instructional Strategy
● Understand the learner
● Know the big picture
● Begin with the end in mind
● Focus on the feeling
● Outline the general message
● Establish the outline
Achieving Microlearning
Divide Your Lessons:
● The goal is to limit the amount of information that is being delivered at one time
● Lessons should not be longer than 10 mins
● Consider the smallest aspect of a lesson, say, the topics and start breaking down into smaller pieces
● The topic can be broken down into logical, five minutes pieces, each with its own objective
Achieving Microlearning
Vary the Delivery Method:
● Having varying delivery methods makes microlearning much more interesting
● Delivery methods include: Videos, Quizzes, Infographics, Audios, texts, Multimedia interactives
● Assessment can come immediately after the short lessons
● This will help in quickly assessing the effectiveness of the delivery method
Achieving Microlearning
Connect the Pieces:
● Determine which units fit together best for maximum student learning
● Skipping around from topic to topic is not the best way to apply microlearning
Achieving Microlearning
Implement:
● Determine which units fit together best for maximum student learning
● Skipping around from topic to topic is not the best way to apply microlearning
Achieving Microlearning
● Too much information
● Topic hopping
● Engagement
● Recognizing limitations
Pitfalls in Microlearning
● Articulate
● Adobe captivate
● Vyond
● Lectora
● Camtasia
● Microsoft powerpoint
● Video production tools
