Job Description for the Executive Director of Sarah Daft Assisted Living Home

Reports to: Chair of the Board of Trustees

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Assure compliance with all State of Utah rules and regulations for Level 1 assisted living homes. *(This applies to all employees and residents by implementing a quality assurance program to be updated every six months.) Marsha requested to be taken out. LD, MN, LS

Administers fiscal operations such as budget planning, accounting and

overseeing rates and services.

Directs hiring and training of personnel; oversees maintenance of and adherence to current job descriptions, licenses and policies.

Promotes ongoing and open communication among staff members, residents and families.

Negotiates for improvement of and additions to buildings and equipment.

Directs and coordinates activities of residents, administrative staffs and services.

Develops policies and procedures for resident activities.

Assists with marketing by giving tours, assists with promotions, makes visits for referrals, and oversees resident retention and transfers.

Oversees resident/family satisfaction by ensuring smooth and proper move-in procedures and orientation, makes personal contact with residents, handles resident family complaints, problems and suggestions.

Supervisory responsibilities:

Leads staff meetings and promotes teamwork and accountability; manages direct staff based on organizational design and disciplines employees, addresses complaints and resolves problems.

Maintains overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units of staff; supervises non-supervisory employees.

Carrys out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Interviews, hires and trains employees; plans, assigns, and directs work; evaluates performance, and rewards staff.

Education and experience: Outlined in the State of Utah’s Rules and Regulations under R432-270-6

needs an associate or collage degree in related degree.One to two years’ management experience in a health care field.

Language skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from

groups of managers, clients, customers, and general public.

Mathematical skills:Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and

statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and

proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning ability:Ability to discern hazards that would impact staff and residents.Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions that are written, oral, diagram or

on a schedule form.

Computer skills:To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of

payroll systems, spreadsheets, software and word processing software.

Excellent communication skills with elderly people:All communication should be clear, respectful and honest.
