INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING THE APPLICATIONSScholarship applications will be made available on each school’s website and through each

Senior student’s Naviance account.

Read each scholarship very carefully. Only apply to those that you are qualified for!

Each scholarship submission will require the following:o EITHER a “General Application” or a “Special Application” (not both!)o EITHER a “Personal Statement” or a “Special Essay” (not both!)o Example: If you apply for 5 scholarships, you must turn in 5 applications (either General or

Special) and 5 essays (Either Personal Statement or Special Essay) Only attach Letters of Recommendation to those scholarships specifically requesting them. If a Transcript is required, your College & Career Center Representative will provide that for

you, free of charge. Do not request a transcript from the front office! Your College & Career Center Representative will be responsible for completing the section on

Page 2 of the Application titled “For Office Use Only.” Committees will not accept packets that are incomplete or not properly put together. Only include required documentation asked for by each organization. Anything extra will be

removed.

All completed applications are due to your College & Career Center by:3:00 PM ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2017 – NO EXCEPTIONS

Your College & Career Center Representative is responsible for submitting all completed application packets to the various scholarship committees. The scholarship committees will then determine the scholarship winner(s). Scholarship winners will be announced at your school’s Senior AMA Awards Ceremony.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are the recipient of a scholarship, you are expected to send a Thank You Letter! In the past years, we have lost some scholarships because winners did not follow this practice. Your College & Career Center Representative will advise you through this process once you have been announced the scholarship recipient.

DISTRICT–WIDE SCHOLARSHIPS

THE ALLEGIANT GIVING SCHOLARSHIP FOR TOMORROW’S LEADERS – $500 One male and one female award per school

Open to graduating high school seniors at Oakmont and Roseville high schools who have demonstrated leadership qualities. Leaders are found in many places and emerge from many places also. Those involved in class or school leadership positions are obviously potential candidates for this scholarship, but it is not limited to just that arena. Many leaders emerge through athletics and activities participation, especially those involving teamwork, and those individuals are also encouraged to apply. Applicants must submit a 500 word essay explaining “What constitutes a good leader and what has made you a good leader.”

Special Essay (500 words) that explains what constitutes a good leader and what has made you a good leader.

AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN (AAUW) SCHOLARSHIP – 2 @ $500

The purpose of the American Association of University Women, Roseville-South Placer Branch (AAUW) scholarship is to provide college scholarship awards to graduating high school senior girls within the South Placer school districts who will be attending a two or four year college. Applicants must complete a Special Application, three Letters of Recommendation, high school transcript, a one page 500-word essay stating, “How you plan on being a leader of women after college”, Student Aid Report (SAR) from FAFSA, and a college admissions letter by June 15, 2017.

Antelope American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) is offering up to $1,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors. To be eligible, applicants must have participated as a player in Antelope AYSO during their high school years. Applicants must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA with exemplary citizenship. Must apply with a SPECIAL APPLICATION which includes an essay. A transcript must also be attached.

SYLVIA BESANA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – 2 @ $500 The number of scholarships available depends on amount of funding

Open to all seniors in the Roseville Joint Union High School District planning to pursue a college education leading toward a career in the field of teaching or physical education. Students who have demonstrated civic involvement or participation with student government are encouraged to apply.

CALIFORNIA SCHOOL EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION CHAPTER 459 SCHOLARSHIP – $100 to $500 Open to graduating seniors who have a parent/legal guardian who is an active member in good standing with

CSEA, Chapter 459. Applicants must submit: (1) Special Essay specifically stating why scholarship is needed and (2) A transcript with general application. GPA must be 2.5 or better. This scholarship will be awarded only to those deemed qualified by the scholarship selection committee.

Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 or higher and must include a 500 word Special Essay explaining, “What is your passion and goal in life and why do you deserve this award?” Attach transcript to application. A letter of recommendation from a science or mathematics teacher is also required.

PINKY JENSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – 2 @ $1,000

Open to RJUHSD seniors who are dependent youth of a past or present member of the Roseville Fire Department. Two scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each shall be available annually for qualified applicants having a minimum 3.0 GPA. Scholarships shall be awarded by the Executive Board of Local 1592 following applicant review and recommendation by the Scholarship Committee. Awards shall be limited to one per person, and may be used for either college or vocational programs. Must apply with a Special Application.

Open to all seniors at Antelope, Granite Bay, Oakmont, Roseville and Woodcreek who will be pursuing a college education. Primary criteria in selecting recipient(s) are students who can demonstrate a strong work ethic, perseverance in their academic growth and success, and individual promise. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA or higher. Applicants must submit a Special Essay with a short answer: “In one or two paragraphs, please explain how the activities you are currently involved in affect your future college and career plans.”

Open to senior students who will be pursuing a college education. Primary criteria in selecting recipients are students who can demonstrate, in writing a narrative, extensive involvement in volunteerism within their community and/or participate in community activities within their school. Students are also selected by being able to demonstrate leadership, high moral character, good citizenship and financial need.

The Lilani Wealth Management (STEM) Scholarship is open to all graduating female seniors studying STEM who will be pursuing a college degree in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and must include a 500 word Special Essay entitled: “Giving Back: How I’ll Make a Difference in the World.” Also one letter of recommendation from a teacher or school counselor must be attached to the application packet. (Financial need is not necessarily required.)

Scholarship is open to all RJUHSD graduating seniors with a 2.5 or greater GPA. The applicant shall demonstrate a desire to pursue an Entrepreneurial business opportunity as a career and plan on attending Community College, College or University beginning fall of 2017. Include Business Plan and Letter of Recommendation.

Open to Seniors pursuing a career in the field of Criminal Justice. Criteria for selection will be on financial need, leadership qualities, high school extracurricular activities and community service. Must have at least one letter of recommendation from the applicant’s high school counselor or teacher.

Open to senior students who are continuing their education after graduating from high school and enrolling in college full-time (12 units) in the fall. Award will be based on a GPA of 2.8 or better; financial need; participation in interscholastic sports and/or an elective office in some class, student body, or school sponsored organization and participation in community service outside of school. Applicants must submit a one-page Special Essay explaining “What I Hope to Accomplish in College and Why.”

Receiving Award: Upon receipt of proof of enrollment in college, a check shall be issued to the college for the winners to use toward tuition, books and lab fees. No checks will be issued directly to the student. Proof of enrollment in college must be sent within 12 months of award. ROSEVILLE FIRE FIGHTERS LOCAL 1592 SCHOLARSHIPScholarship amounts listed below

Open to all seniors in the Roseville Joint Union High School District continuing their education beyond high school. The scholarships will go to support college applications fees, tuition, or book costs for college education.

The Roseville Girls Softball League is offering scholarships to one graduating senior at each of the following five high schools (Granite Bay, Roseville, Oakmont, Woodcreek and Antelope) plus at least one additional “At Large” scholarship. Applicants must have participated in the Roseville Girls Softball League for at least four seasons to be eligible. Work as an umpire also counts. Applicants must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA with exemplary citizenship grades. Applicants must also respond on a separate application to questions on citizenship, leadership, extracurricular activities, and goals for the future. Must apply with a Special Application. The application must be typed, not handwritten. Transcript also needs to be attached.

Open to senior students of Roseville and Woodcreek High Schools who are planning to continue their education after graduation. Applicant must have a GPA of 3.0 (B) or better, demonstrate financial need, good citizenship and community involvement, and have participated in an interscholastic sport and/or held an elective office in some class, student body, or school sponsored organization, and have been enrolled in the school district for at least three semesters.

GPA of 3.0 (B) or higher

ROSEVILLE JOINT UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION SCHOLARSHIP

Administration staff at each school will make nominations. Candidates must have demonstrated active involvement in community, school and district service. Must have been enrolled in the District at least two years and a minimum 2.5 GPA.

Students do not submit applications for this scholarship.

AMOUNT: 2 @ $1,000 – Antelope 2 @ $1,000 – Granite Bay 2 @ $1,000 – Oakmont 2 @ $1,000 – Roseville 2 @ $1,000 – Woodcreek 2 @ $500 – Adelante 2 @ $500 – Independence

ROSEVILLE Jr. TIGERS YOUTH FOOTBALL & CHEER ASSOC., INC. – $500

This scholarship will be awarded to a senior who has participated in Roseville Jr. Tigers team for at least two years. Each recipient must have a GPA of 2.5 or better to be eligible. Must have ended their youth football career with the Jr. Tigers organization. Must be planning to attend college full-time in the fall. Must apply with a Special Application.

as K-8 teachers. Award based on a 3.0 (B) or higher GPA, need, leadership qualities, and participation in extracurricular activities.

Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and have completed 3 years of dance at Roseville High School. Financial need will be a consideration. ROSEVILLE PARENTS’ CLUB SCHOLARSHIP –3 @ $250

Open to graduating seniors of Roseville High School who plan to continue their education beyond high school. Including, but not limited to, Community College, Private/Public Colleges and Universities, or Vocational Programs. Two scholarships are open to all graduating seniors. One scholarship is open to a student whose parent or guardian has been a member of the parents' club for 2 years. All students who have experienced an academic challenge in their four years of high school are encouraged to apply. Please submit a one-page summary explaining your academic challenge(s) and how you overcame it/them.
