TheHaysWay 2017 NFL Mock Draft 2.0

Round 1

1. Cleveland Browns- Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M- Eventually, the Browns will finally make a good first-round draft choice. I think this is the year. But, you never know, maybe they will continue their trend of drafting poorly by taking QB Mitch Trubisky (North Carolina) here instead of the player that is CLEARLY the best in the draft. Ill give them the benefit of the doubt.

2. San Francisco 49ers- Mitchell Trubisky, QB, North Carolina- Its a toss-up between Trubisky and CB Marshon Lattimore (Ohio State), but Trubisky is a better bet because QB Brian Hoyer has proven time and time again that he is meant to be a backup QB in the NFL, not a starter.

3. Chicago Bears- Malik Hooker, S, Ohio State- The Bears defensive secondary is a mess. So, theyll go best available DB, which happens to be Hooker, which happens to be a very unfortunate name.

4. Jacksonville Jaguars- Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU- RB Chris Ivory is on the old side and RB TJ Yeldon is injury-prone, so the Jags need to get a young, less fragile RB. Fournette could be the Ezekiel Elliott of this draft. Or he could suck. I get the feeling hell bust, but there is about a 0% chance the Jags will feel the same way.

5. Tennessee Titans- Solomon Thomas, DE, Stanford- The Titans dont have much in the way of defensive line (with the exception of DT Jurrell Casey). Thomas and DE Jonathan Allen (Alabama) are both possibilities(Coin Flip)Thomas it is!

6. New York Jets- Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio State- Jets fans will scream in agony when the 49ers take Trubisky at #2, leaving them with the man whos been everywhere: QB Josh McCown. There is clearly no other QB worthy of the #6 pick, so theyll have to trade down or look at another position. With Revis Island gone, I think theyll look to fill the CB need (though, I will say that I have high hopes for CB Morris Claiborne in New York). Lattimore is a great player, and there really is no other CB within shouting distance. If its any consolation Jets fans, at least McCown can provide some insight into the playbooks of other teams, seeing as hes run half of them at some point in his career.

7. Los Angeles Chargers- Jonathan Allen, DE, Alabama- The Chargers defense could be really amazing if they get someone who can complement last-years draft pick, DE Joey Bosa. Just look at the Atlanta Falcons pass rush last season. Allen is not quite on Bosas level, but he can still make a huge difference. Plus, hes the best available player at this point.

8. Carolina Panthers- Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State- Its time for the Panthers to look for a successor to RB Jonathan Stewart, who just hit the death of RB age of 30. With Fournette off the board, Cook is the best available.

9. Cincinnati Bengals- Taco Charlton, DE, Michigan- The Bengals had a worse season then I believe they shouldve had last season. They should try the Falcons remedy for turning an average team into a good one: get a pass rush.

10. Buffalo Bills- Jamal Adams, S, LSU- The Bills secondary suffered a hit with the departure of CB Stephon Gilmore this offseason. Unfortunately, there isnt really a good CB in the vicinity, so they should jump on Adams, who will stay on the board longer than most people expect (and longer than he should). With Adams and newly-acquired, under-appreciated S Micah Hyde, the Bills may very well have the second-best S duo in the NFL this season (behind Seattle Seahawks S duo Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor, of course).

11. New Orleans Saints- Haason Reddick, LB, Temple- Get those Saints some defense! Id go with LB Reuben Foster (Alabama), but with his drug test from the Combine coming back positive, the Saints shouldnt take the risk; Their defense is too bad to.

12. Cleveland Browns- OJ Howard, TE, Alabama- The Browns go best available again because when you have as many needs as the Browns do, why not?

13. Arizona Cardinals- John Ross, WR, Washington- The Cardinals need to prepare for life without WR Larry Fitzgerald. WR Michael Floyd didnt pan out, but maybe the fastest player to ever participate in the NFL Combine will.

14. Philadelphia Eagles- Reuben Foster, LB, Alabama- Im not really sure whats wrong with the Eagles. On paper, they should be amazing. I think they can afford to take a risk on the guy who didnt pass the Combine drug test, who also happens to be the greatest talent left on the board.

15. Indianapolis Colts- Ryan Ramczyk, OT, Wisconsin- The Colts STILL need offensive line. They just cant seem to fix the problem. Their o-line is so bad, that even I feel bad for them. And Im a GIANTS fan! Side Note: I had to recheck my spelling of his last name 10 times to make sure I had it right.

16. Baltimore Ravens- Mike Williams, WR, Clemson- With the retirement of WR Steve Smith, the Ravens are in need of a true #1 WR. Williams is highly capable of being that as soon as he steps on to a NFL field.

17. Washington Redskins- Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford- Washington seems to be the revolving door of RBs the way the Jets seem to be the revolving door of QB. So, Washington will reach for an undersized McCaffrey and it will backfire.

18. Tennessee Titans- Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan- The Titans lack a #1 WR. Im not totally convinced that Davis can be one, but hes definitely the best WR left in the draft, so the Titans might as well give him a shot and give QB Marcus Mariota another weapon.

19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- David Njoku, TE, Miami- TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins never ended up working out, so its time to try someone new.

20. Denver Broncos- Forrest Lamp, OG, Western Kentucky- I could potentially see a flier on QB DeShaun Watson (Clemson) here, but GM John Elway seems relatively content sticking with QB Trevor Siemian. Well, en este caso, firme aqui on the contract of Lamp to get more protection and make Siemians life a little easier.

21. Detroit Lions- Tim Williams, OLB, Alabama- After showing Stephen Tulloch and DeAndre Levy the door over the last two offseasons, the Lions are suddenly weak at LB. Theyll need to fix the biggest problem position on their defense.

22. Miami Dolphins- Cam Robinson, OT, Alabama- The Dolphins always seem to be one offensive lineman short of giving QB Ryan Tannehill the absurd amount of time he needs to throw an interception. Robinson plays tackle, but is 322 pounds, so he is big enough to move to the interior of the o-line, if need be.

23. New York Giants- Garett Bolles, OT, Utah- The Giants staff and fans alike will cringe while they watch TEs OJ Howard and David Njoku come off the board, as TE is the well-known primary target for the Giants in this draft. However, much like the Dolphins, the Giants never have the o-line that they need. With Bolles still on the board, all is not lost.

24. Oakland Raiders- Charles Harris, OLB, Missouri- I would list some of the Raiders LBs here, but I honestly dont think anyone would recognize the names unless they are a Raiders fan. So, Ill just say that the Raiders really have no choice but to draft a LB this year.

25. Houston Texans- Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson- Watson could very well have the honor of immediately starting, crashing, and burning for the Texans. Im convinced that the QB position is cursed for the Texans. But, if Watson pulls it off, the Texans will win their first ever Super Bowl.

26. Seattle Seahawks- Malik McDowell, DT, Michigan St- The Seahawks have lacked a run-stuffing interior presence ever since the departure of DT Brandon Mebane. McDowell could fix that.

27. Kansas City Chiefs- Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama- The Chiefs could use someone to put opposite of CB Marcus Peters.

28. Dallas Cowboys- TreDavious White, CB, LSU- The Cowboys have the oft-injured CB Orlando Scandrick andI dont have an and! Even S Barry Church is gone. The Boys will take the best defensive secondary player remaining.

29. Green Bay Packers- Gareon Conley, CB, Ohio State- Remember Green Bays CB carousel last season. It was almost as hilarious as their RB carousel last season. I almost went RB for the Pack, but I actually think WR Ty Montgomery pulled off the RB role he was given last season. Also, CB Sam Shields is gone now, so CB definitely seems like top priority for the defending NFC North champs.

30. Pittsburgh Steelers-Jabrill Peppers, S, Michigan- We all know how potent the Steelers offense is. Their only issue is defense, and they need the most help in the defensive secondary. Peppers is probably one of the five best overall athletes in this draft, and I think the Steelers would be stoked to have him.

31. Atlanta Falcons- Takkarist McKinley, DE, UCLA- The greatest collapse in Super Bowl history may not have happened if the Falcons pass rush hadnt tired in the second half. Enter another young pass rusher to add to the mix.

32. New Orleans Saints- Derek Barnett, DE, Tennessee- MORE DEFENSE! Take the best defender left on the board!
