Dream Job: Aside from working with students to provide support and access to higher education, my dream job would be a performer on Broadway.

Supervisor Says:

“I assumed leadership of the Office of Graduate Student Life in the summer of 2010 after many years of work with undergraduates at Boston College.  One of my first tasks was to fill one of the graduate assistant positions in the office.  Our graduate assistants also serve as Resident Assistants in our undergraduate residence hall and as such have working experience with undergraduate and graduate students.  Steve was our first graduate student to serve as a Resident Assistant in the undergraduate residence halls AND as a graduate assistant for Graduate Student Life.

In his first year, he advised the Graduate Student Government (GSA), re-wrote their constitution, moved their election process on-line from an email system, led the undergraduate/graduate mentoring program, and, like all of our staff, participated in the operations of the Murray Graduate Student Center.  Steve also took the opportunity this summer to work in Residential Life at the Berklee College of Music where he had a truly alternative experience which will strengthen his professional portfolio.  This year, Steve's projects include full coordination of Graduate and Professional Student Orientation for all graduate students from all schools and colleges, which was a great success.  Steve is also assuming responsibility for all operations of the Murray Graduate Student Center including budget, inventory and staff supervision.  He will continue the mentoring program and also his RA duties which are in the senior area this year.

Steve has been a tremendous asset to our office.  I am so excited about the possibilities for him as he gets ready to launch his professional career at the end of this year.  He has really taken full advantage of all of the opportunities in the office and the division and I expect he will do very well in the spring when he is searching for his first professional position.  He has a strong understanding of the undergraduate and graduate student experience, programming and operations.  I think he will be very marketable and am looking forward to cheering him on!!!”
