Environmental Science Independent Book Review – Non-Fiction

Book Selection must be made by January 30, 1012Review Due: Friday March 23rd, 2012

Self-select a non-fiction book that is somehow connected to environmental science. Read the book and then complete a book review in a typed word document.

Components of Review:

A. MLA citation of book

B. Author overview – What background or credentials does this person have regarding science or this particular topic? What else has s/he written on the topic? How is this person viewed in the scientific community?

C. Summary of the idea or theme of the book

D. Based on your level of science understanding, discuss two specific concepts presented in the book. Summarize each concept and provide at least 3 facts outlined in the book.

E. Discuss two specific instances (quote passage and cite page number) when environmental science was discussed in the book.

F. Discuss a reference that was made to previous studies or previous scientific work that was done. Who or what was referenced?

G. What connections can you make between the book you read and what we have studied or will study in class?

H. Find a review of the book. Cite it or copy and paste it into your document, and then explain whether or not it is an accurate review.
